I'm a huge fan of the original Roadhouse & have watched it countless times. I'm not a fan of remakes, so I was reluctant to watch the new one. I watched it & the story line is different enough to make it it's own movie & at the same time pays tribute to the original. Great movie!

GREAT COMMENT. This was one of the remakes that did exactly as you said. The Point Break remake sucked. Total Recall remake sucked. The list is endless. I'm waiting for a remake of Entourage except with Girls trying to play the same roles. Actually, I liked the Netflix redo of Lost in Space, they should have made more episodes.

7:35 to 8:01 hits the nail on the head and is explained so elegantly, gone are the days of a new movie coming out and just having a good time, always wondering if it's going to be any good or not nowadays with so much watered down, pandering or just uninspired lackluster shit. I had the absolute best time with this movie, it just knew what it wanted to be and not seeing the trailer or knowing anything really beforehand I was so pleasantly surprised with it 10/10. Hope it wins all the awards for the amazing innovative filming style!

I admire the approach to choreography and stunts because you want to make the fight scenes look authentic as possible. Hollywood have finally caught up to Hong Kong action cinema where they would employ a similar methodology of shooting fight scenes. Using pads and editing juxtapositions to make the effect look seamless and the contact look real. It’s done with excellence in this movie. It’s the movie’s selling point. I was wondering how did Gylenhall tank a direct headbutt from Conor because it’s directly in shot, no hiding his face no stunt man and now I know. That’s so cool.

I thought it was a good action movie, however, there was almost nothing in it to call it a Roadhouse remake. I truly believe that a great disservice was done, to both movies, by having any reference to Roadhouse in it

The Garrett shot technique is pretty cool and works great in some of the fight scenes (including some occasions where they really flex the impacts) but in the final fight it just makes the whole thing look fake.

Big fan of Jake and the original movie. I think people have a much higher expectation of fight scenes today than they did back when the original movie was released. I think the fight scenes in the remake were really good. Overall, the movie was a dud though, storyline was weak and unbelievable and Conor character was just silly in my opinion. I think the movie may have worked even with the weak storyline if they found a better bad guy. I know Conor can fight but there's a lot of people that can fight, they need someone that can act too. Looking forward to the next Jake movie. Haven't given up on the guy yet :). BTW, it's unlikely there will be a second movie if that decision is based on reviews. 3.2 out of 5 on Rotten Tomato and about the same on Prime. A lot of people watched it though. I guess I don't understand the ratings game well enough to know if the first movie gets terrible ratings but a lot of viewers, will they try to make a second movie. Since I'm a fan of Gyllenhaal I might watch the second movie but if it was bad that might tank his career. I guess we'll find out soon :).

This movie rocked!!! Great, great action and even some humor that made me laugh!!! I just did NOT like the ending at all with Jake being told to leave by both the Sheriff and his daughter (who he had started a romantic thing) with; yeah sure, he killed a man, but it was all in self defense, what did they expect him to do, not fight and get killed????? the rest of this movie, up until the end, gets a 10 from me!!!!

WOW - really? The original Road House is a classic, funny, approachable, and Patrick Swayze? My 80yo mother loved it, and we just watched this one. She's not much on sex scenes, kinda used to the swearin (I've got a horrible, but unrepentant potty mouth) but she could do without, and not really big on violence, but even she loved this movie. I thought she was going to choke on her water when Conor strutted naked down that alley/street and then strutted off in the jacket! I absolutely loved the movie, and we've watched it multiple times separately and more than 5 together! She's having surgery soon, and we've already planned to watch it while she recuperate so it's honestly sad that you don't like either one! The soundtrack is excellent as well! I personally loved this version, and I agree regarding Conor - he MADE the movie!! Try it again - if nothing else it's pretty funny, and the music is energizing! I'm going to go mop my floor now - I just finished it again. I should look into this soundtrack! Thanks!! Happy Holidays!

Connor McGregor didn't add anything other than fanfare to the movie, and maybe technical expertise. I'm not criticizing the movie as a whole, as I found it very entertaining, but if anything having a bloated looking Connor McGregor as a main character detracted from the movie as his acting was horrible and bizarre. It would have been significantly more enjoyable if he played a more menacing silent character that lead up to an ultimate fight.
