Devil genes are way more powerful and have more potential than they look, so it would be a bad idea to underestimate them.

@rendomegame Oni is basically a fully demonized version of Akuma, but fights more like a demonized Gouken if you notice the stance, fighting style, and some of the moves. Which makes sense as Akuma is supposedly Gouken's brother I believe.

@dswynne Oni is a character we dont really know how was "born". some speculate, it was Shin akuma training and got struck by lightning. some say its becouse he was angry at Gouken and needed more power from the Satsui no hadou. some think its becouse he found all the dragonballs and wished for more power.

@skankinruby I have both SSF4AE and Mortal Kombat. You can save $10 by buying the normal SSF4 and then buy the AE DLC for $15. I have heard that there is no difference between buying the retail version of SSF4AE and buying the normal SSF4 and then purchasing and installing the AE dlc. Anyways Mortal Kombat has 28 characters while SSF4 has 35 characters (39 for AE). I have not used arcade joysticks and buttons so I could not tell which one is easier.

@TheColorlessEye Evil Ryu's story comes from Ryu giving into the dark power building within him called the Satsui no Hado, essentially becoming like Akuma; craving a fight to the death at any cost. Oni is the reverse, being Akuma lost completely to the Satsui no Hado, and becoming a full demon, rather than a half-demon as he is viewed as.

Street Fighter Wiki: Oni is in fact, Akuma who has lost control of his power (most likely the Satsui no Hadou as well) and is now an actual demon instead of just being referred as one, which confirms that he has transcended humanity. --> Note: This character should not be mistaken as Shin Akuma, even though both have very close similarities to each other such as being a more powerful form of Akuma.

That's my theory: In Akuma's ending you see how he destroy's a forest. He's lightning and say's something like "Sekia Kuretsuha!". In Oni's beginning you see the same forest but there's another tree ( something like a cocoon? ) and Oni is in it. I think Akuma started his transformation at the Akuma-ending ( maybe good conditions to transform? ) and completed his transformation at the Oni-beginning. Sorry for bad english, I hope you understand what I try to say.

@yomantoclean When you download the Arcade edition patch it essentially gives you two versions of the game so that you can still play people online that do not have it. You need to switch your version to arcade edition in the game menus. If your problem is that you cant pick them in online matches, it means that your opponent does not have it and hence will not allow you to pick them.

@diegoniceguy Actually this is what happened, Capcom created Evil Ryu in Street Fighter Alpha 2 as a what if character (there's even an interview with someone from Capcom saying those exact words) but after seeing how popular the character was, (in Capcom fashion) they tried to incorporate Evil Ryu in story since Street Fighter Alpha 3.

@carloscasty Ummm, no, he didn't change his name. In the Japanese versions his name was always Gouki. Its just that the American versions changed his name to Akuma, for apparently no reason. And Oni is basically Akuma if he was completely taken over by satsui no hadou, in other words, he lost control of it.

@B14CKJACK That's true, also Shin means "Sacred" or "God" depending on which kanjis are used. But I guess "True" is more accurate due to Gouki's demonic nature (the exact opposite of what we call "God" or "Sacred") Akuma (Demon) is the name given in America, but his name, Gouki is based on a character of the japanese folklore, both Gouki and Zenki are oni (ogres/demons) just like Gozu and Mezu (to name a few that ussually appears on other media, like Dragon Ball Z or the Savage Reign games)

@AwesomeDude363 Actually, he never became the fully fledged character Evil Ryu, it was just a small impulse of that desire to win that is the beginning of what makes characters turn Evil (The Satsui No Hadou). And with that, yes, he did scar Sagat's chest, with a Shin/Metsu Shoryuken. Since then, he has vowed to reject all instances of the Satsui No Hadou, and has been following and training under Gouken since. ... At least, that's what I think. Once again, not 100% sure if I'm right ...

@carloscasty Normally in a fight, Akuma holds back, the neckless that he wears has a bead for every person that he has killed, and acts as a type of restraint. Oni is akuma if he doesn't hold back, and uses the total power of satsui no hadou. At least this is how I think it is. Not really sure.

It has Arcade, Tag-Team Arcade, Co-op tag team, Challenge Ladder, Story mode, Training, & Test your Luck (this is where you have slot machine reels and they ramdomly pick a fighter for you to fight and gives one or both fighters advantages AND/OR disadvantages to them) Both games are great for parties. SSF4 for diverse characters and faster pace. Mortal Kombat for cool fatalities, X-rays, and u can have 4 players go 2 on 2.

@busymike Yes and no. The Kaio Ken and Super Saiyan are two levels, but within both levels are sub-levels. So, a Kaio-Ken x 4 is not as powerful as a Kaio-Ken x 10, and a Kaio-Ken x 10 is not as powerful as Kaio Ken x 20 (and so forth). So, I was trying to indicate the ranking of Evil Ryu, Akuma and Shin Akum (from left to right), while indicating that Oni is the true master of Gouki's murderous art taken to its logical evolution. And, I bet that Oni'll level up over time as well.

@KevinPhil1990 It is true, though Evil Ryu in theory did appeared, only once and for a few seconds only (or so they say), in the first SF tournament, when Ryu and Sagat fought, Sagat actually won, but when he was going to either help Ryu get up or giving the finishing blow (it was never cleared), the Dark Hadou took over enough for Ryu to land a Shoryuken to Sagat's chest, hence the scar and all that. All this is still hypothetical since the first SF never really explained it well

@5619762 You don't HAVE to buy the full game of SSFIV: AE to get Oni and Evil Ryu if you already have SSFIV. That's why DLC was invented. You could easily download the "Arcade Editon" add-on to Super Street Fighter IV, thus saving you like $30. It's easier now a days compared to the SNES age, before when you could just download updates. DLC really adds onto the value of the game, sometimes.

I must say though, I agree. An Evil Ken would be Kick-Ass. Even bring back the 'Violent Ken' Having Evil Ryu, Oni, Akuma and an Evil version of Ken would be completely badass. I'd certainly go back to maining Ken if they did that.

I could say that it is a shout-out to Masahiro Nakahira's Street Fighter III: RYU Final Manga (I think it's part 2 where Akuma used Shun Goku Satsu on Ryu and punched a hole straight to his chest). However, Street Fighter III, is, according to the Street Fighter storyline, AFTER SF4, so we really can't say that this is proof to what happened to Evil Ryu in here.

@skankinruby (Continued from last reply) However SSF4 is easier using analog sticks while Mortal Kombat is easier using the d-pad. (from my experience anyway) Overall I think Mortal Kombat is easier to learn when using the controller just because combos are fairly easy to connect and inputting special moves are not as tedious compared to SSF4. However that being said, special moves in SSF4 is much easier to pull off than in previous installments of Street Fighter.
