2 years later, this is a great review. Thanks for the time and effort. Looking forward to getting my first bike and it seems like it will be between MT09 and the Z900. Learning towards the z900's sportier feel
@DB-sd3cw6 жыл бұрын
I own a 2017 FZ-09 and I've ridden my buddy's z900. Honestly they are both pretty different and suited for different riders. The 09 is super touchy and really well suited for aggressive riding, power wheelies like nothing, has insanely hard acceleration and sounds incredible. My buddies z900 felt like a slightly more upright supersport and man was it smooth, much more suited for people who prioritize handling and corner carving and would be great for beginners. Overall though everyone agrees my 09 is a little more fun 😎

I opted for the Suzuki, got a very good deal on a 2019 model in that awesome Suzuki blue. Upgrading from a MT 03 so it's a substantial increase in power. The Suzuki is so predictable and has such smooth power delivery that i felt at home on it after 2 or 3 rides. With the money i saved I've made a bunch of mods and made it my own. Great bike, i love it!

I bought the Suzuki today. Why? I don't like the looks of the MT09. The Street triple is too expensive and I don't like the look of the headlights. Z900, butt sore after 20 minutes, but what a bike it is. I have never seen a Gsxs750 where I live, so it's kind of a different bike here. Im also quite tall and the ergonomics felt good on this bike.

Nice video Saga..good on you mate. I did a test ride on triumph street triple and z900, without hesitation I bought the z900..main issue I had with triumph was a hard clutch .z900 had a very soft clutch, practical for daily riding and handling was better than the triple.. I didn't try the Yamaha though and am sure its a great bike. I have owned the z900 for a year and if one area I might be critical it might be 1st gearing as he has mentioned. 1st gear is too short, lol...but that is easily fixable by changing the sprocket combination. A member in z900 forum actually posted data results and reviews by going on a different sprocket ratio and he reckons it feels like a turbo... On highways the bike is superb, super smooth clutch, excellent handling, good fuel economy, head Turner...I love my z900... To summarise if your an office worker and daily commuter who prefers practicality, handling, comfort, fuel economy, value for money you can't go wrong with a z900...

FZ09 is fast but seating position is just like an enduro. Z900 is fast but seating position is more like a supersport except not as leaned over as much. FZ09 is an inline 3 which makes it more jumpy than the Z900. Z900 is an inline 4 which makes it insanley smooth to ride. Having rode both bike i can say they are both magnificent and deciding between the two will most likely come down to the seating position.

@smoke05s5 жыл бұрын
I think you get the Z900 non ABS version, (they are 300mm rotors, non radial brakes for Pete's sake). Check out the dave moss video on the bike and tweak the suspension accordingly. Its only 125HP, trust me, you don't need rider modes. On top of that, the cable throttle is smoother than any ride by wire. All being said you will ride away with nearly the least expensive in the comparison and it will have the best handling and be the fastest.
@smoke05s5 жыл бұрын
@@Jesusprayerwarriorbw keep practicing panic stops. squeeze instead of grab. Let the weight shift before you give it the full pressure. Its a really subtle difference (just a split second). Also put a leg out on the uphill side like Rossi so you can catch it if it does lock up. ABS adds yards to your panic stop (which is likely what is causing most of the panic!). You don't need ABS . . (once you get the skills down)

I was torn between the Z900 and the GSX-s750. The GSX-s750 won due to how easy it is to ride in lower RPM's making it perfect for commuting and a blast in the mountains. Unfortunately the dealer sold the last one before I could get my deposit to hold it over to the dealer(they are 3 hours away from me). So I tried to settle for the Z900... And it too sold. Only ones left are too old or brand new(too expensive). That's what I get for hesitating when everyone is getting gobs of money right now.

@christopher7310 hey from dozen reviews I understood this: Z900 is for everything with great suspension, engine and sporty position which is great (not mt09 enduro stuff position) Suki is excellent in cornering and suspension, So how much Suki is better at suspension and being 6.2" 185cm what is the best for tall guy? Suki seems like a little bit smaller bike
@christopher7310 Жыл бұрын
@@mykolapelyp9065 That depends on where you like your knees. The z900 as a much more relaxed writing position and the Suzuki GSX s750 as an almost sporty like riding position. Meaning it's a little more cramped. But, the Suzuki sits a tad higher than the Kawasaki. If possible, I suggest you go throw a leg over both and see which one you like better. My last bike was a R6 and I’m older now can’t hardly stand to ride bikes like that to long so I want a big powerful slightly heavy fast bike! I’m done with racing I have no need to be the fastest around anymore but I still want a big powerful bike so I can gear it up use it’s torque be good to it and make it last for a couple of decades or longer! Usually I get the life out of 50% of the bike like it will run fine but need almost everything else, tires, battery getting week, just normal wear and tear but I can feel it coming apart Beneath me! That’s when I find me a guy with a few bucks in his pocket that always liked my bikes and cash it in and get me another new one! I do the same thing with cars I know how to work on them and could make Them last forever but can make more money by just staying in that sweat spot for cars and bikes and keep my cash built up!

2020 GSX owner here. Seriously underrated bike. Not only can they be found for $7500 brand new ABS model(every year dealers tend to throw them up for sale in the mid summer because they're not as popular as the Z or MT series), but they have better MPG(46 mpg vs 33-35 for competition), traction control/ABS as well, and they still pull ludicrously hard despite being 'less powerful'. I mean you're talking like a ten horse power difference ..it's not much. Lay on the throttle in 3rd or 4th gear around a main road and you're rocketing past whatever is around you.

You can buy an MT09 with ohlins suspension and carbon wheels for less. Ask me how I know.
@AntaresSQ016 жыл бұрын
hooeuuew dooouee youuee knooee??? joking aside yea the MT 09 is much more value for your money and idk about the looks of the Street triple, some people like the headlights, i personally find the new MT 09 much more badass, it has sharper and more aggressive lines, the street triple is just a bit to mild everywhere, + the street triple is really just a stripped down sport bike with straight bars, the MT 09 was a purpose built Hyper Naked
@christopherhudson88306 жыл бұрын
[HUN]AntaresSQ01 that’s not really true though is it, Triumph don’t do a sports bike with that engine!

daytona 675 duh??? obviously it has it's own chassis and fairings tho but in reality it's ergonomics are entirely of a sports bike, similarly tuned suspension too

It would really help if you included views of seating position of the Street Triple and MT-09, as you did for Z900 and GSX-S750

If you put a full exhaust power commander. re-spring and different fork oil and seat on the suzuki. Your still around 9$ total invested. Its a real winner. Specially if you can get one new out the door for 7500$

Good comparison and would even throw the 790 Duke in there too. If $ wasnt an issue the Triumph is top but choosing between the Z900 and MT09 requires a test ride. The suzi is a firm 4th, still a good bike but I couldnt get on with the mirrors and a bit on the small side if you take a pillion.

Duke looks hideous, I absolutely don't get how those machines is being sold

For track days- the Triumph or Kawasaki, especially a used one already crashed. For the street- the Yamaha for more reliability, a low price and the comfort for long trips, especially with a thicker seat and taller windshield and the Tracer 900 or 900GT model. For city riding I would drop down to the Yamaha MT-07, or a Suzuki 400 Burgman scooter for its storage if you can live with its more nerdy looks.

Well done. Thanks for sharing. Performance and comfort are my most important consideration along with value and appearance I have my eyes on the MT 09. Love the Triumph but my wallet is too thin.

I bought the kawasaki Z900, best all-rounder out of the bunch, best value for money. MT09 let down is its suspension, it ties itself in knots when you really start get going through the twisty stuff. Great engine though. Triumph is the best if you have the extra cash. Suzuki is a decent bike, just needs to be a little better to compete with the others. Rode all before I bought my Z900, try before you buy.

Appreciate these videos! I know you may not be able to answer all your comments but if by chance you see this - I’m looking for my first bike, and in Canada I have to stay underneath 750cc. I’m debating between the MT/FZ-07 and the GSX-S750. However there doesn’t seem to be any comparisons because the gsxs is only put up against these bigger CC’ed bikes. What’s your opinion between the two? I want the most power (usable power) I can get under 750 and both bikes appeal to me. The FZ always wins the head to heads when compared to bikes in its class whereas the Suzuki always loses, but I wonder if a bike at the bottom end of the 750-900 category would blow away a bike at the top end of the 600-700?
@WeNeedASaga6 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephane - thanks for the kind words! I think you're right that they compare the suzuki to the bigger bikes because it deserves to compete against the bigger bikes. The GSXS750 is definitely a quicker (and slightly more grown up) bike than the MT07, but don't discount the MT07 straight away - it's light, agile, and the torquey engine makes it a LOT of fun. I'd make sure to try both because even though the Suzuki is better on paper, you might find you really like the MT07. I certainly did! I hope this helps!

Peter Clifford thanks for the kind words Peter! The main reason I don't talk about price is that I've found it varies a lot between countries, and often one brand will be mich cheaper/dearer than Australia in other markets

Nice comparison. Well done! I ride a '12 wee-storm which I've had since new and absolutely love it, especially for its torquey v-twin, high comfy riding position and its practicality with a top box on the back. Looking for something with a bit more grunt, got it down to: GSX-S1000(/F), S1000R,, Z900rs, & maybe a MT-09. Anyone with any thoughts on these bikes, or any I'm missing from my short list, would be much appreciated. Cheers!

After owning a Bandit 1200 I wanted something which required a bit more rider input, not another big comfy cruiser Owned a matte gsr750 previously , wasn’t black enuff , got the phantom model with 3 miles on the clock for gbp 6800 don’t care about the lack of bottom end cos if I need to go fast I’ll be in the correct gear and revving it’s tits off Only owned it a few months and it’s uk winter now but will be putting cam footage on as soon as the weather improves , good video, echoes what every journo says , I love mine , don’t think I would have bought the others even if I had the cash , might’ve bought the gsxs1000 tho 😉

I got the Z900 and one thing that is worth mention is the maintainence costs. Unfortenatly Kawasaki is around 40% more expensive on service on a 3 year period compared to the MT09. The MT09 is wery a wery temting bike the only thing for me is the riding position wich is to moto GP on it. I find it hard to get any confident feeling in it in higher speeds.

@WeNeedASaga6 жыл бұрын
glad it helped. out of interest, what are the other two bikes you're looking at?
@brianglendenning16326 жыл бұрын
Suzuki gsxs1000 and MV Augusta Brutale 800. The Brutale is the insane “Just bought an Alfa” option and I know I will not buy one, but have to test ride it. The Triumps are also expensive, but I will give the 765S a go because closer to what I want to spend . My more realistic short list is GSXS750, GSXS1000 and Z900. Off my P plates yesterday, out testing today, likely to buy today trading my SV650.

I’m 6’3 and am looking at the GSX-S 750 or MT-09 for regular commute and easy rides in the country. Speed isn’t my thing so my question is which would you think is more comfortable for a very tall guy for commuting?
@jeevanchaukar6 жыл бұрын
Really Good and useful comparison....Only thing is that you didn't give a final verdict - which one you personally would prefer over everything else and why....I thought you have personally chosen MT09 - is that right? By the way, in India, Yamaha and Suzuki have got the pricing all wrong in recent years compared to Triumph and Kawasaki..(MT09 cost is slightly higher than Triumph Street Triple RS here!!) Suzuki are launching GSX750 here already and I hope just the price doesn't make it DOA case! On the other hand, Triumph and Kawasaki are really battling it out in the middle weight segment here - though Triumph is charging some premium, they are also giving more safety features and other stuff...Kawasaki is definitely more value for money in this segment. Considering Indian roads and traffic conditions, a light weight and nimble bike is a big boon and Triumph scores a lot on that front. Also Street Triple is one of the few models which throws very minimal heat on your feet when the radiator fan kicks in (and that happens a lot due to traffic snarls and hot weather except 2-3 months all round the year). That heat is actually less than KTM Duke 390!!
@WeNeedASaga6 жыл бұрын
yeah you're right - I chose the MT09 :) thanks for watching

Yup, being about the same price means it becomes a real question of personal choice. I would go for the ST as I personally think it looks better than the mt-09.
