Good to see you guys back at it specially working on another Z-Car!! Last year when I met all you guys at the drift/open house meet… lol. I said I was going to buy a Datsun Z car. Well earlier this month I found one in Ohio and drive out there and picked it up and brought it back home to my shop. It’s a 1974 “one year only” Datsun 260z. Looks like I’ll be having to be doing similar rust replacement work too!🤣 Plz don’t keep us waiting for the next episode of this series..!💪🏼🔥🔥🔥🙏🏻🤣

Please take some advice put on safety glasses or face shield I worked in a restoration shop and as a mechanic for 35 years and in that time only got debris in my eye once because I wore safety glasses. Also you may consider having car body's like this dipped to make restoration work much faster and easier

4:14 you can make a damage box from an old shoe box, LED strips and some spray paint. Essentially, you take the bottom of a bigger shoe box, cut one wall paint it flat black on the inside (on the smaller side) and put LED strips as straight as you can (using lines drawn on the bottom of the shoe box). The LEDs should be the cob kind, with the "lens" integrated, that way they are uniform, not punctual. And from there you put that box over the area you suspect to be damaged and look from the side of the box that's removed. It will reveal the truth. edit: obviously this is for small damage, stuff you'd miss using big fluorescent light that you spend entire minutes chasing otherwise.

What hole punch tool was that, and what size holes does it punch? The Harbor Freight one I commonly see does like 3/16" holes, but I know someone makes one that makes 5/16" holes. Also good to see KF making quality parts like their sister company does for VWs.

Hey for real though what would the cost of the rust repair be? The reason I ask is I have a rusty 71 240z. No floors and frame rails need replaced as well as the battery area and the font fenders. All the typical 240z rust areas. I got screwed by a guy once for 3k and that set me back a long time in getting the car started.

This is probably 80-200 hours of labor at $80-120 an hour not including materials. I'd lean closer to 20k, but I'm interested if anyone else knows since I'm doing some of this myself.

This is constructive criticism, I'm not trying to bash you guys. I like your content. However, watching this video, there was a lot of frame judder and color washout. For 4K, you should be able to get much better video quality than you have. Take a look at your video processing process. Are you converting from 60fps to 24fps? This could cause a lot of the judder. Filming in the native frame rate you want is going to be way better than converting. As for color washout, avoid filming line of sight of your super bright shop lights. There are also post processing filters you can use to get better color matching. Sticking to 60fps is likely the biggest bang for your buck for now though, unless your camera can do native 24fps from the start. Keep making great content guys! I love your content. I hope this tidbit helps you guys get that "professional" look and grows your channel.

Checkout Easy Composites Ltd. for how they make a carbon fiber mold and hood (bonnet). It will be interesting to see if you make from the car or make 3D laser scans of the parts and CNC molds for repeatable parts in the future. Molds only last so long. Using VARTM for the process? This is a great project!!!

@TheSaturnV
@TheSaturnV Жыл бұрын
There really wasn't all that much weight difference in the bodies of the 240 vs the 260 and 280. The frame rails were extended further to the rear of the latter series and a modest side impact beam added to the doors, and that's about all. Maybe a tiny amount of weight added in the tool storage cubbies right behind the seats vs the very early 240's. The real fat came in via the grotesque bumpers, a/c systems, power steering, R200 diff and heavier 5spd transmissions.
