An epic sonic display of timeless music. Kenny Shields vocals were stellar, the guy could sing the phone book and it would have sounded great, When Mick Jagger heard Kenny's vocals on the cover of 'Under My Thumb', Mick himself said... ''I wish I could sing like that'' quite the compliment. Paul Deans guitar prowess was ingenious, his trick was never overshadow the rest of the song, his guitar parts fit every song like a glove. The bass in this and other Streetheart songs is impeccable Ken 'Spider' Sinnaeve earned his nickname well, highly gifted player. Matty Frenette, a drummer's drummer, steady as they come, when you watch him play he makes it look easy, clearly he enjoys every second that he is behind the kit and last but not least, Daryl Gutheil on the Keys, when you listen to this album, the keyboards play a unique roll, at times giving a trumpet flavour, which makes complete sense, since Daryll's first instrument was the trumpet, fact is, he is an exception trumpet player. Streetheart, one of Canada's greatest bands, lets just say, for those who weren't exposed to their music in their youth, those people really missed out.

we get an appreciation of music from our elders. I'm 64, I grew up on classical, then Johny Cash and Jimmy Millar. In 1964 it was the Beatles. That changed my life forever, but I still love classical and old country. I think it's awesome to be able to enjoy so many types of music. You can go with the flow, you know, don't get pegged for one genre. I LOVE Floyd, Zep, Ozzy. I have a major crush on Vincent Fernier (Alice Cooper). Beyond my time, but Mozart is my 2nd fave musical genius, Prince is my first. Nobody apart from Prince had the same genius as Mozart. I'm sure this post will create a lot of blah-blah-blah amongst the mediocrity. So be it. But genius can't be ignored.
@randymack29724 жыл бұрын
@@brendadale852 no blah blah here darlin' . . . . . Prince ahead of Mozart is quite ballsy a pick . . .but I get ya. i love when eric clapton was asked "what pressures accompany being the best guitar player in the world ? " and Clapton's response was , "ask Prince" . kinda says it all right there does it not.

I'm 64. This song came out in '78! I heard it for the first time (that I remember) just a year and a half ago!!!!! Where the heck was I for the past almost 40 years?!?!?!?!? I LOVE this! I was driving the backroads up around Acton (Ontario) the first time I heard it, and I had to pull over to JUST LISTEN! The first organ chords, and then the bass! OMG!!! And the rest of the song...you have to get out of the car and dance! I only ever listen to radio when I'm driving back roads, and even then the commercials are so annoying I prefer silence. But...it seems my sixth sense seems to know when this song is going to play. I turn the radio back up, here that first organ chord, and I KNOW what I'm going to hear!!! It's only happened 3 times on the road, and I can always come to this site to hear this song any time I want to. But, hearing it on demand isn't as sweet as catching it by chance. It gives me GOOSE BUMPS when I hear the very beginning of this song on my car radio! The first bar just grabs and hooks me! I could go on and on, but just let me say this is a song that really touches me. It gives me an energy, and a soul touch.

The opening of this song..the keyboards...is the most fantastic expectation of the song I love MOST!!!! The very first note tells me what's coming. My husband, on the other hand, hates this song. I was dancing in the living room like a wherling dervish, to this song, richocheted off the door jam, hit my head on the TV stand and knocked myself unconcious. . Apparently I made a lot of noise as I went down. I didn't remember any of that (shouldn't have drank that tequilla), but ended up in the hospital with no recollection of any of my antics the night before. Big black eye for 3 weeks, scared the shit out of my grandson, who I looked after every day. as I looked so scary. NOTE TO MYSELF....you 're not a drinker, so NEVER drink tequilla again. And if you do, don't do it while listening to Action! My husband has banned me from listening to Action, but I still sneak it in on my playlist after he's gone to bed. I'm pushing 70, and I should be able to enjoy and dance until my old legs give out on me and I can dance no more. 20 more years, hopefully, this old soul is not even closely ready to give up!

About a hundred years ago, or so, we used to go this bar in Osborne Village, Winnipeg called “The Zoo”, where back then Kenny Shields performed quite a bit. The guy would come out on the stage with a big bowl on his head, and in it was usually a fair size explosive charge. Somewhere in the middle of one of his songs he’d set it off. Needles to say the whole room shook as if a bomb exploded, so much so that sometimes it'd bring Kenny to his knees. It was a blast and we kept coming back for more every Saturday for a while.
@Mishiginebig7 жыл бұрын
That's what music is about.Kenny was as good as Steve Mariott or Rod Stewart. My liver still hurts from being at the Zoo. Every note you play in Winnipeg, you realize you stand on the shoulders of giants. There was nothing more intimidating than playing at the Zoo and seeing all the band pics on the wall. Lucky to just be part of it :-)

Kenny Shields grew up in Nokomis, Sask for those Saskatoonians wishing to claim his as your own because he went to college at U of S . the Band was always based out of Regina{and later Winnipeg } and if you want to get technical - Nokomis is 35 km nearer Regina than Saskatoon. . . .so there's that too.
