With the Lexcen waiting for nicer weather and the Drag Challenge Ute heading back to MPW for more fabrication we decided to drag old Supermang out of the back corner and get it ready for rego.

Son had a view of getting rid of some surplus 'stuff'. Convinced he wouldn't need it again and I was just hoarding stuff. Ended up repurchasing most of those things at a later date... Only thing he did get rid of, once it was out of his system, were the lowering springs. A few years on was over the comprise. There was a time when there was no such thing as to low.

I put whelsh plugs in injector holes. manifold on, Rego, Manifold off. welsh plugs out. SUPERMAG again

I’ve seen a l67 4.2 stroker with a large cam that big the Conrods shaved to suit cam, it has a 2.8 litre whipple supercharger I think it was, it makes decent power n goes hard

You should source a dohc 3.8 from the States since they're an evolution of the 3.8 Buick if they weren't available down under. The more power an engine makes n/a the more it makes with boost.

Time to put the L67 into the black Torana and knowing that the Torana is lighter get it into the 11,s and then add more mods and nos to the engine and get the torrie into the 10,s with the supercharged L67.

With rego Different motors turbos and blowers are not a problem if the vehicle series came with them. The Problem is the Pollution Control System! You can put a later engine in if you fit the emissions system for that engine. You can put in a much earlier engine provided you fit the emission system for the year model of the vehicle it’s going in. For motors that were never in the vehicle series you may need an engineering certification especially if going much bigger in power.

Be interesting to see how you go with the penrite racing 15, i just went away from it , used it in my turbo barra, 3500 klms in 3 years and had about 7 oil changes in that time, oil comes out gold yet recently had the engine apart and its sludge city! Apparently its a thing with ester type oils and e85 despite it saying it suits on the bottle.

noting wrong with storing "obsolete" parts, I've got 2 cabinets full of (now) ancient computer (cpu(plus heat sinks / fans)/ram, video cards, sound cards/56k modems/various PCI and PCIe cards)/routers/cables/switches and other parts, never know when a customer needs a part for there systems they don't want to upgrade to newer tech, you would be surprised then again maybe not. Just don't let it get out of control.

It had the water to air intercooler. Remember we tested an air to air intercooler way back and it made little difference.

@@STREETMACHINETV The water to air can work, but I don't think it has sufficient flow to do the job. If it was a name brand intercooler you might get away with that size barrel (or slightly larger) but it was a Chinese knock off that are known to flow poorly in comparison to a more expensive cores (pressure drop test at boost levels directly before and after would confirm flow loss). I think a second cheap one in parallel would reduce the bottleneck.

She was pretty, dirty, but we cleaned her up for the thumbnail. The stroker would make decent power naturally aspirated if we wanted to go that way, but the siren song of boost is calling us.

Way too small on a 3.8 litre if wanna go fast. Smaller than a factory xr6 turbo and not often used on anything larger than 2.5 litres.

@@hayden6056 when my car was manual we were at 460 hp at 22psi with gen 1 turbo on lpg enough to turn tyres at 100kph with a clutch kick lol Yes maybe different dynos but car still went 7.43 1/8 mile with wheel spin through 1st and 2nd it’s surprising how much power new small frame turbo can make
