48:10 - I think this is such an important point, and I realized it's the main problem with my playing. Looking back over my mistakes, almost all my worst ones have been when I assume I'm behind and try to fix it by getting greedy and overplaying

I would like to see this lesson integrated into your normal games more, but maybe not in quite as extreme of a way. I feel like this is very counter to your normal play style which is very sente hungry

I could give that a shot in one of my basics streams on monday

Gote by it's nature is a bad thing. The difference here is that you are noting how some moves are worth enough despite the fact that they are Gote.
@cameronmccoy50515 жыл бұрын
At about 15:15 you ask if there’s any other large point to take right now. I was eyeballing L16 and H16 to threaten his top area and work towards connecting the top right corner to the wall you have in top left. Would that not work for leading into some more territory in that upper left quadrant of the middle? (Edit) obviously this video was about Gote but especially if you were to use something like M12 to lean on that right side, you could build up a decent area of territory there, yes?

I don't think black can really connect himself in the H16 area no, white is really strong there. If you look at something like the H12 point, white has three exits from here, to the left, to the top and to the bottom. I don't really see black making points in there.

Would it be crazy to suggest starting a new game once you've gotten to the middle game in a basics series? I may be wrong but the essence of Gote is to play a move that lacks a strong follow up and or importance. In large what you have described as Honte is most definitely not Gote. Just a thought :)

thx for the vid, batts! at 49:15: is it me or are you undervaluing R18 like all the time? it's so big 💰💰💰
@mathkrGames5 жыл бұрын
then again, there's D19 follow-up 🤔🤔
@Greganthus725 жыл бұрын
@@mathkrGames But R18 is also sente because of the clamp at P18. So I think you are correct, that R18 is bigger.
@williamlechelle95664 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah definitely, R18 is way bigger. R18 has a P18 follow-up, which itself has a O19 follow-up, and O19 is same as D19. In the words of Batts himself "you're not watching this stream for the endgame".

Doesn't C7 give white C2 making your corner really tiny because there is push? My instinct says B7 - I know we don'T like to play on 2nd line in fuseki but this one seems just better idea shape wise.....
@cruzcruz69665 жыл бұрын
The aji in the corner is a little better with B7, but it allows white a much better chance at surrounding black (C8 gets hard to answer, for instance). Since the one white stone D6 isn't connected to the wall, the C2 move doesn't even really work yet, and even if it did, responding outside at, say, D7 instead of B2 isn't a calamity. TL:DR a little bit of corner aji isn't as important as not being surrounded. Playing on the second line really is as bad as they say it is.

Waaah you are watching owl? Awesome! I am one of the 10 and totally laughed at the goats joke. ... when you say „hi chat“ sometimes, do you accidentally copy Jayne? ... what is your favorite owl team? :D
@dwyrin5 жыл бұрын
Nope its cause i stream every week and always talking to chat. I watch owl sometimes but when i see mirror match ups in goats i tend to turn it off. I hate knowing whats going to be played before the match begins, especially when thats all you see on and off the ladder.
@tiro0oO55 жыл бұрын
@@dwyrin hehe, I am too low ranked to see much goats it in my ladder games (plat-noob). I actually like the tactics that go into the goats mirror matches, but yes, some more dps action is nice, that is why I tend to watch chengdu hunters most of the time (they almost never play goats). btw. my main youtube activities: watch some OWL and your go-videos afterwards :) its a good combination ... overwatch for some tactical action and go because it is just awesome and can calm you down

I like the story and characters of FF 2 (FF 4), but like many early RPGs, it suffers from the "everything-is-a-cave" problem. Hence, I prefer FF 5 and FF 3 (FF 6).

I don't know, man... you only won by half a point against someone 6 stones weaker than you are. That's not exactly a strong advertisement for playing in gote.
