Another interesting and entertaining video. It was Sly who inspired me and my best mate, to start training when we were teenagers in the 80's (specifically Rocky 3), and still am to this day, in my 50's. With that said, and still a big fan of what he achieved physique wise in that era, I actually preferred Carl Weathers. I think he had better symmetry, looked athletic and strong, whilst appearing quite natural? But to be fair, probably never reached the conditioned level Sly did in Rocky 4.

@TheJasoncash83 Жыл бұрын
Dolph Lundgren is an expert marital artist with black belts in multiple styles. He's also a scientist with degrees in chemical engineering. I highly doubt he ever did steroids. He build was due to his martial arts training. He's built like a fighter, not a steroid user
@jd9119Ай бұрын
@@TheJasoncash83 He was also making millions of dollars off his physique doing movies. I'm not going to accuse him of doing gear or not doing gear. But he definitely was financially incentivized to do so. And there are plenty of "black belts" who have tested positive for gear in MMA. That isn't a proof that he's natty, nor is having college degrees in any field. There are men with college degrees, in science fields, that do steroids. Especially, when their professional careers earn them higher wages than the average man makes. Having more money means you can better afford gear (especially growth hormone) and you can better afford the food you're going to need to fuel it.

I am hardly an expert on this topic but it seems like it would be pointless for Stallone to fake lifts. He has never been a bodybuilder or a professional strength athlete. All he needs is to look good for cameras and in that regard he has always succeeded even as he has aged. I am not saying he doesn't train hard or anything. @StrengthUniverse2 жыл бұрын
A bent press is very different to an overhead press. Most of Arthurs lifts were unorthodox and relied on explosive force to lift the weight from the floor and catch it overhead with a straight arm. Arthur spent his whole career doing these sorts of lifts and mastering the techniques.

For me what is suspect is the way it rotates in the horizontal plane once overhead. It's pretty difficult to get that sort of weight rotating (it's got huge angular inertia because of how far apart the plates are) and just as difficult to stop it again. Try it with just 40 or 50kg and you'll see what I mean. No way of proving it but just doesn't look right...

@@jacobkeary6740 One can lift a lot of weight without really having that much grip strength. And some guys have insane grip strength, and still can't lift very much otherwise. Look at the climber Magnus Midtbø. He is pretty small, and his max in classic lifts are not that much. quite good for his size, but far from record breaking. But when it comes to grip strength I am sure he is top 5 in the world. he tried the one finger lift. Something he never had done before, and he maxed out 10kg under the world record. That is insane. With a little focused training he could easily break that record. My point is. lifting strength doesn't necessarily transfer to grip strength. And then there is the legendary old man strength. old people that has been in good health and has been fit, generally gains grip strength even after their max lifting capacity lessens.
