I am a regular follower and subscriber of this channel. I have watched other channel's videos on book summaries, personal growth, and productivity but so far this is the best almost giving competition to Jay Shetty's videos. Nathan's videos are great. It appears as if Nathan has acquired the wisdom that can only be acquired by someone who is a perfectionist and has been through tough time and depression at least once in the life. I deeply respect his dignified and graceful approach towards life. what I learned in a lifetime he has learned at such a young age through books that effort always beats talent. I respect his efforts. I know for A FACT that he will be extremely successful in all aspects of his life. I haven't watched this one yet but I do know as a medical doctor that on a stress - performance curve where stress is on x-axis and performance on Y the shape of the resulting curve is bell-shaped. That is the stress increases performance until the threshold to cope with stress is reached and then any further increase no matter how tiny it is, it results in decreased performance and even depression.

Stress usually impairs my performance in every way. For example things I usually do very well or well enough, I can hardly do at all when stressed, or just really badly, be it remembering something, playing piano, being social, solving puzzles, games that involve focus.. If I try being physically active, my body shuts completely down after a short while if there's stress/fear/adrenaline combined with it, while when it's not, I can last much longer. I could go on. One of my "tasks" lately is falling asleep. How do you suppose stress will help me solving this? And by the way, when it comes to performance, I've lived since early adulthood hearing that "nervousness will enhance your performance, without it you won't be focused enough to perform your best". Well...unless the performance involves fighting, freezing or flighting, guess what, it very rarely has enhanced mine. That being said, I'm currently "diagnosed" with nervous system hyperactivation, that's probably caused by extreme stress levels (just a notch under panic attack-level), daily (and nightly) over a very long time, combined with other things. And I can bet your ass, workaholics who absolutely love their high intensity-never pause, never truly vacation jobs, who "lives of" and love stress, energy and performing 24/7, they too will hit the wall at some time, they too will suffer a heart attack and develop high blood pressure if they overdo it. I've seen it to be true, so I know it CAN happen to seemingly healthy (eating healthy, exercising a lot) people who are absolutely not afraid of stress, getting wired up, and working intensively, but thrives from it.

i dont think this is absolutely correct. when cortisol grow there are oxytocin but it's for lowering stress hormone. if you have not strong parasympathetic system the stress is harmful
