Unfortunately, many people with MS cannot easily get to and from floor with that kind of ease, if at all, like the instructor in the video. I certainly cannot. I try to do exercises and stretches from a chair to the best of my ability.

Are these stretches also beneficial for the legs, too? I don't get spasticity in my hips, I get it more in my hamstrings, quads and calfs! I found that ice packs also help with any pain and I'm also going to check out and see if ice gel also works as well. Epsom salt baths also help as well...anything to relax those muscles. I also take Cal-Mags as I was told that it's also a great supplement for people who stand on their feet all day working like teachers, doctors, sales people etc. as well as for MS. Thanks for another helpful great video, much appreciated.

Hi Eugene, you would want to perform inner thigh stretches. We do not have any on our youtube channel yet, but I'm sure if you searched on youtube "inner thigh stretch" you can find some. We also have inner thigh stretches in our stretch collection for the ms workouts membership. tv.msworkouts.com/categories/stretching-videos

how many exercises would you recomend to execute daily? should i just train one kind of my body for instance legs, arms or core or should i mix them up?
@MSWorkouts5 жыл бұрын
If you are doing high-intensity exercises (strength training), we recommend anywhere from 6-12 exercises per session. We recommend trying to target your entire body throughout the week. And for frequency, we recommend performing an exercise session 2-3x a week, with at least one day of rest in between. If you'd like to learn more about our guided exercise program, please visit www.msworkouts.com.

I have spasticity in the back of my right leg down to ankles, and my feet are tight. In physical therapy I would lie on back m, hold true leg up, and they would push it back towards my head as much as possible. How can I replicate this without assistance?

Rest day? I don't have one. I do totally different exercises for 3 days & on the 4th I go back to day one. I stretch in between exercise. Should I take a day off?
@MSWorkouts3 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard Rivera, great question! When you are strength training at a high-intensity, like we do in the video, you are literally tearing down muscle fibers. Your muscles need rest, and nutrients to rebuild and thus give you more strength. If you are constantly strength training, you are not giving your muscles time to get strong. I hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions!

@ajsassy7886 жыл бұрын
Tracey's Tracks Or get down there! I hate when instructors who DO NOT have MS illustrate what to do! I can't even lift or bend my right leg😢😔😞It's an everyday struggle.
@MSWorkouts6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracey, for easier transitioning, we would suggest executing out workouts and stretches on the bed.
@MSWorkouts6 жыл бұрын
Hi AJ, we would suggest performing the floor exercises / stretches on a bed for easier transitioning. We are sorry to hear you are not able to lift or bend your right leg. Attempting the exercise sets with as much range or intent that your body will give you will allow you to get the most from the exercise. Continue to control your actions by communicating with your Physician and PT, and simply giving your best effort each day will give you the best shot at being as strong as you can.

Hey Marie-Danielle, you bet! You can stretch every day, even multiple times a day. Just make sure to stretch AFTER your workouts, as opposed to before. And don't stretch immediately upon waking up in the morning when your muscles are still "cold". Keep up the effort!

can't feel my legs so not sure when its stretched or not
@MSWorkouts6 жыл бұрын
Hi Libre, we hope you and yours are doing well. Loss of feeling is common with MS and definitely a consideration to take into account while stretching. You do not want to over stretch your targeted areas. We would suggest visiting with your PT or OT regarding adequate ranges of motions for each stretch. This will allow you to have a visual cue for how far to be taking the stretch. If you are ever in Dallas or Austin, feel free to reach out and can have you by one of the studios to review! Stay after it and remember the only thing we can control is our actions... and you're doing it!

Performing exercises on a bed is no easy feat for people with MS. A disclaimer should be used with this video... “Exercises should not be attempted on bed or floor if disabled.”
