I have the SP9A1, and the magazine problem WAS a REAL problem. I love my Stribog, don't get me wrong, but it did have mag problems. I did get the updated curved magazines and the issues have completely stopped.

Same, I have both mag's only have issues with straight mags, not every time but often enough to not trust them in a bad situation. Curved mag's have never malfunctioned for me with well over 1000 rounds, I do trust the curved mags. I too love my Stribog such a fun gun, everyone who tries it agrees.

I have found brass case ammo works well. I tried aluminum case and had malfunctions where the empty case didn’t extract or eject well

I have the A3 and the roller pin damaged the aluminum rails which made it near impossible to open/remove the bolt and it had to be forced shut. Sent it back and it came back with a hollow roller pin. Couple hundred more rounds and it started doing the same thing again. Put an HBI buffer and it’s been good so far.

HB Industries makes a reduced weight trigger spring kit and an extended bolt release that makes the trigger much better that are relatively cheap.

I had issues out of mine right out the box and had to send it back get it fixed and got it back about a month later and now it works fine

I have the SPA1, non roller delayed model with old straight mags. Been 100% reliable, love it. I've tried the SPA3 roller delayed model and it does have less recoil, but its 9mm so recoil on old model is really nothing. Great review thanks!

I have an A3, 10 inch barrel, in 9mm. Been shooting it for about a year now. Love the gun when it works but have had endless feeding problems with the curved mags. No problem with the 20 round straight mags. Local supplier was initially very sympathetic but now tells me I am the only one having these issues. I have tried different weight bullets, different powder loads, factory ammo etc. Every time i use a curved mag I have feed problems, regardless. Anyone who may have some sage advice - I would be most grateful!

Are you using ball ammo or hollow point? Some hollow point rounds are said to have reliability issues.

Im still rockin with the sp9a1 gen1 with the reciprocating charging handle. Very very accurate. Never had an issue even with the old mags. I only run the curved tho cause theyre easier to load. Been really good. Got it years ago for 700.

You should also look into the KDgunwerx recoil spring upgrade, makes the cycling shorter so the bolt doesn't go all the way pass the trigger group, and also reduced felt recoil. makes my stribog work like a sewing machine

Great information, thank you. Which model did you have, A1 of A3? My thoughts are to buy the A1, get this mod, change the lower to use CZ Scorpion Mags and look at getting the trigger mod from KD as well. I can do that over time too, do the trigger last.

@@KZbin_can_ESAD I have the A3, i really love it, it makes the recoil way less but also makes it more predictable if that makes sense so its not just a full bolt slamming to your face. I shot AKs more so this was definitely a pleasant entry

Subbed after watching your review. I have same model as you and my setup is very similar. I'm planning to get a can for it when I can afford one. My mods include HB Industries enhanced recoil buffer and better bolt release; Radian safety lever; Streamlight with pad; flush charging handle and am running Holosun 510C optic. Additionally I've got a slanted front stop. Never had any problems other than an earlier mag that did not have steel feed lips...the polymer lips bent after a few range trips. It was a short 10 round mag so now I only carry the standard 30 rounders both in straight and curved configuration. No mag problems with the newer versions.

I bought a SP9 A1 Right when Gen 2 with the non-reciprocating bolt charge handle came out. I've gotten some HB add-ons for bolt release, and picatinny adaptor. Love it. The stick mags are ok but many had cracking the feed lips issue. I picked up the curves mags when they released and love them.

Been shopping for a first non-pistol, and after considering many options decided on this. Just ordered one and am SO excited! It's basically a UMP5, a cross between two HK legends. With the roller-delay it will absolutely shred in binary mode ;)

I've got about 2k rounds in on mine and haven't had any issues! I'd like to think that things are largely fixed but like everything else, I'm sure there's some instances of faulty parts floating around

I have the A1 gen 2, never any issues with the firearm probably around 3k rounds, I do have 2 straight mags that have had 2 to 3 issues feeding. It was some time before I had any issue and thought they were going to be just fine then one day I had my 1st fail to feed then no issues for some time and then another fail to feed. I still use those mags just know they might have an issue.

For my SP9A1, I've had feed lips break off the curved mags and the straight mags have been a total headache with binding and fail to feed issues. Wanted to get the Glock mags new generation but have heard enough about the delayed system having issues. So I haven't pulled the trigger. Pardon the pun.

The PSA AKV9 is the best deal. Accepts scorpion mags. Their new ARV moved to curved mags bc they work better.

The curved magazines do not have metal feed lips. These are the latest and work the best.

Good concept, but I'll just keep liking the CZ Scorpion... not the newest one that changed the magazines...bad decision CZ to an amazing platform. HBI and/or Apex offer solid upgrades to allow personal changes. If I wanted a new offering, I would consider the Beretta PMX... looks amazing and it's a Beretta. Also the S&W FPC is an amazing consideration and works with existing 2.0 mags...and it is now available in .40 cal...win-win imo.

I have a Beretta PMX and a first look will be coming VERY soon. I like the Scorpion but have heard concerns with cracking.

I’ve had the scorpion, the 3+, the MPX, MP5, the PMXS, and two bogs. Just sold the PMXS bc it was heavy and just unwieldy compared to the Bog, but it does have an amazing trigger and I love the cheap KCI B&T mags. But the newer bogs have so much support and with a few mods suppress at MP5 levels with modern upgrades like LRBHO.

The newer stribogs shoot a lot better than the scropion! CZ needed to update the scropion years ago. Nexus firearms is doing what CZ should have!

Technically, yes but you’ll need to swap the FCU to one that will accept Scorpion mags

The honest issue. Was the stupid right folding brace. Should have been a left folder from day one. Brace or stock if you got one are folded in front of the ejection port. Meaning you got one shot folded. Then, had to clear the weapon. As for the dreaded ammo issue. I bought mine years ago gen 2 roller. And yeah I heard the stories about issues. But go watch most of those videos. Almost everyone mentions them. But qualified it saying they heard of it. But never actually experienced it. Now I may have missed some that did. But I watched a lot. And the one guy who did say he had issues. Is a big channel. Talks shit about every inexpensive gun. He gets 2, 3, and 4k guns sent too him. And the one he says are good are those expensive ones. All else basically crap or talked down. If I was making 6 figures on youtube. And getting guns sent free. I would be happy saying how great top of the line stuff is. Send me a Rolls and i will happily say it is nicer than a Nissan; hint, hint Rolls Royce. I personally know several guys with them. And none of us have ever seen the issues. Now too be fair. The only straight plastic mags without the metal reinforced lips I have are 10 rounders. But they have always cycled fine. And I have fired 10, 20, and 30 straight with and without the reinforced lips. I have tried other guys mags in mine. And they used mine in theirs, worked fine. Same with the curved mags. I honestly think it was one jerk. And a bunch of lemmings. And if they had properly lubed and broke in their guns they would have been fine. I see guys with dry AR's and 1911/2011's at the range all the time. Sorry, 1911 platform needs more oil than a glock. Same as an AR needs more than an AK. They blame cheap 600 dollar Palmetto State junk. When it was them. And frankly, expensive tighter tolerance weapons are usually more finicky.

it is not fixed. very sensitive to ammo too. only take ball round ammo for sure. HP or flat head 147 gr, or any slightly not-a-ball shape will cause a jam.

If you got the 1st gen mpx it was lame and expensive. Just like the mpx, the stribog sucked. It's more refined now and with the proper upgrades like the cz lower it's great. Unfortunately after all the upgrades your looking at about $1600, not too far off the mpx.
