I've been playing a lot of brother's war cards since they will rotate relatively soon. Radiant lotus would be really easy to pay for with powerstones. you could even sacrifice the tapped powerstones you used to cast it to pump lots of mana.

it's honestly not even that fairy-tale land to imagine. Ashnod lets you sacrifice a creature every time she attacks to make a powerstone. Some creatures make powerstones when they enter or die. Not to mention treasures or the everything tokens that the green overlord makes.

It's easy to forget that cycling is discarding a card for monument. I think a red/black or even red/green monument deck would be super fun. Tons of discard cards in green like armadillo, rampaging herd, and the big cat that cycles for a forsest, ect. Would be good with white to run the new wrath that cycles too. I'm gonna build it lol

I feel you on the Lotus for Standard. I can potentially see why in other formats, with easier access to fast mana and more artifact generation/recursion, it could be worth the hype but I really don't see a home for it in Standard that isn't just 'win more'. I could be wrong, and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds if I am, but for now I'm with you.

@@danielklein5829 Yeah about the only current build that comes to mind that both generates a lot of artifacts for sacrifice fodder *and* needs a large amount of mana is Dopplegang. But I don't think this slots in to make the deck any better than it already is. If anything it would probably slow it down.

Unstoppable plan is very much like Seedborn muse. Not tacked onto creature so harder to pop and decent colour being blue as its able to be protected by blue. Mana cost is better too (2U) vs Seedborn muse (3GG) . Fits very nicely on Curve too.

I don't see Radiant Lotus making a big splash in Standard, either. If you're playing aggro, you're not playing it; if you're playing midrange, it's just a "win more" when you're already ahead; and if you're playing control, it's only useful if you have a huge mana intensive win-con that will win you the game.

I’ll try to help with the Lotus…You just got done showing off a 4 drop artifact reanimation spell with tune up (among other ways, currently available), but proceeded repeat over & over again that it cost 6 Not only do you cheat it out early, but you use your first 3 turns to create a board of artifacts for fuel (I.e. collectors vault a artifact that makes other artifacts & allows you to discard 🤝) This is just the most simplistic way to bust it in standard … if only you showed off a different artifact earlier in this video that allows you to discard for benefit that even curves nicely Those are just for standard, the further back you go the more the possibilities are The cards are there, It’s up to you to figure out how to build it friend

thanks for the info Dev! for that lotus, I think the idea that a player can once generate 6 mana to get it into play will be worth it. Because after that it could generate a bucket of mana each turn by sacrificing those map tokens the opponent keeps giving me with that popular removal spell!

One thing about the Radiant Lotus: it produces mana but isnt a mana ability itself and also TARGETS a player. In standard we have Ertha Jo who can copy abilities that target players (copying the lotus) and there are other things that can copy (worldwalker helm + esoteric duplicator = multiple radiant lotuses for 2)

Yargle and Multani is a great vanilla 18/6 creature for those cards that care about no abilities.

Mineoplasm is definitely my favorite card of the set so far. So much potential for relatively cheap too. Not very often you can pay 6 mana for a 9/9 that you can give the effect of 3 creatures that you swap between. For example the new loot has double strike and all these other keywords along side the exhaust abilities. Put that on a 6/6 or a 9/9 and your more than happy

There was a Reddit post very recently comparing a 1/1 squirrel to a 1/1 human and for me the P/T in this game is the last part of the game I'm worried about for fantasy continuity. Maybe squirrels are 1 power and humans are 1.999999999999999 but we round down.

I don't imagine you'll see anyone hard-cast Radiant Lotus in formats without Mishra's workshop and premium fast-mana artifacts. That said, the jank possibilities for Azorius artifact/enchantment reanimation decks in standard do intrigue me.

The one use for this lotus in Standard that I can see is ramping into it after sunfalling, then yeah, sac that incubator to go from 6 to Valgavoth. That's it.

Im a commnder player, the thing that gets me about this lotus is the fact that it is target player, i cn give the sweeper player the mana they need to clear the board of their big threat, I can give the counter player more mana for the counter war to stop the infinite combo. The kind of bargaining you can do with this is amazing. And that isnt even saying for yourself.

Burnout combos well with Hazoret's power 2 or less goes unblocked ability too, so that either your opponent burns a removal on your one mana one one, or hazoret is fully online at the end of turn 4.

The ceiling is so high, it’s a 6 mana win the game combo piece if you have other pieces, if dopplegang can win games then this can help you win with your first doppelgang without having to find a second one

I like having Worldwagon in any overlord deck because when your opponent has Glissa (and yes they always have it) they can’t blow up the vehicle but Glissa eats overlords all day

Radiant Lotus will likely be in a Mono Green list, going Elf into Heaped Harvest, then Lotus 🪷 I suppose the mana could be spent for big X spells like Valgavoth’s Onslaught, Primal Might, etc. I agree tho, not that crazy. And getting more artifacts out before will lead to clunky deck lists and inefficient turns.

Of course Gilded Lotus doesn't see play - it can't make 20+ mana in one go! Love the potential for Radiant Lotus, jumping through hoops to combo off.. also the Japanese Showcase Foil version is an absolutely beautiful magic card!

On the topic of using mimeoplasm to copy valgavoth... if you exile creature cards that are going into your opponent's graveyard using your valgavoth-oplasm's ability, does that mean that he can now turn into those creatures too? It only says "creatures exiled with it", it never specifies which ability

I find the lotus intriguing. If it can be broken then it is broken for real, like maybe it gets banned in some format or it does basically nothing. It feels like a weird krack klan ironworks so if there are cards that put things back into play after sacrificing them and the mana is then profitable then in similar style to krack klan ironworks.

I don't play much standard but the big thing about radiant lotus in my opinion is that because it targets a player first it is an activated ability that doesn't count as a typical mana ability so it can be doubled with things that double activated abilities

Pretty sure radiant lotus can be cheated out, discard it then cheat it out and now it's only 4 mana, if you somehow made another artifact you could get 3 back. Still seems bad but it will absolutely see jank play.

there are quite a few mana rocks in standard. the white two mana one, the spider powerstone token thing, Hedron archive, Mightstone/Weakstone, guilded lotus. I can envision a deck that is like "all fo the mana rocks" artifact deck that gets to this and that 5 mana thing that makes tokens and sacs everthing at end of opponents turn. If you have one of each, you would have something like 9 mana, you then tap all rocks at end of opponents turn, then sac them all to the lotus. Another 18 mana, thats 27. you dump all that into the 1/1 creating, 5 mana artifact. thats like 4 tokens, but you have Training grounds to lower the activate cost. This mana generation is even a lowball. If you add in the karn creature and the karn planewalker, you get even more mana. you could also use the threefold thunderhulk. Build your mana. cast it and as it enters, dump mana into it to increase the tokens it produces., give them haste, do some damage.
