What always impresses me about Japan is that exceptionally well cooked dishes still aren't expensive. They don't expect you to pay a lot for their work, nor do they expect tip. They just want to have the good reputation, it seems to me.

Valvrave yea considering many states now have min wage of above $11 it should be abolished. Tipping should only be made when the service is excelent. Mandatory tipping is dumb.

It was hilarious in the best possible way to hear you refer to the port cutlet and rice as "true love". In the recent anime series _Yuri on Ice_ (available on both Crunchyroll (sub) and Funimation (dub)), pork cutlet bowls feature prominently. Early in the series Japanese Yuri is given the task of creating an ice skating routine on the theme of *eros* (sexual love). He is inexperienced in life, having focused almost exclusively on skating, so had no natural context to focus on. The thing he decided he loved most and would focus on during the routine was his mother's delicious pork cutlet bowls.

Tsujiri is famous for the Matcha Parfait. I visited Kyoto seven times and everytime i will eat parfait at Tsujiri. Sometimes they got the seasonal parfait for sakura spring and koyo autumn. You should try the parfait if you visit there again. The store located at Gion is quite crowded. If you walk a bit further to Kodaiji, the Tsujiri there is relatively less crowded.
