Strider (2014) [Review] - Capcoms Underrated Gem?

Just picked it up on Steam for 5 bucks, I’m an hour in and it’s incredibly fun, the movement and attacks feel fantastic and fluid, it’s doubtful but I hope we see more Strider games in the future

This was my first game I downloaded on ps4 IN MY 4TH BIRTHDAY and it makes me really happy that some people still talk about it

Thank you, thank you for mentioning how annoying the final boss is. I came here straight from beating the game to see if anyone else was as annoyed as me. Hear me out, I'm a veteran gamer, who has the accolades to back up my skills, and that last boss is really on another level of wrong in my opinion. (Rant over) OTHERWISE, great game and I had lots of fun. Thanks for the review!

I wish this game together with Bionic Commando Rearmed 1 & 2 would be re released in a compilation pack for modern consoles and the PC. Maybe throwing in the old Strider and Bionic Commando games on consoles and arcade.

This game is so underrated. I love the controls. I have the 1000G on XBOX, and I think I want the Platinum too. I always hoped we’d get a sequel…

I just started Strider 2014 after I bought it on sale a year or two ago. Man, it's so much fun just to move around and slash ebemies. Ive only played and beater Strider on Genesis and played a tiny bit of Strider 2 on PS1, but this game really made me fall in love with this series despite how small it is

Played it when it first came out, but it didnt click for me. Playing it again 10 years later and I'm really enjoying it! Great game.

My only complaint is that I wish Ryu was farther back on the screen, instead of right in the middle of it. Makes it hard to see/know what’s coming your way.

Does it hold up in 2024? This is an IP I feel Capcom could do something with now. Metrovania platformer types are everywhere now, but if Capcom did new one, like Ubisoft did with Prince of Persia, I smell a hit

Me either, Strider has always been underrated IMO. I dont really hear people talk about thsi or the previous games at all. The only time I hear Strider mentioned is in the context of Marvel vs Capcom

@@OlympusGamingTV YEAH RIGHT! He is one of the top tier characters that is effective in that game! Strider was not really a popular game but it does not deserve low reviews and being underrated. I even had before the Strider that US Gold made it was really bad! For me the old game of Strider that made it really popular in the arcades after he got featured in the Marvel Versus Capcom and 2 was Strider II in the arcades and its Playstation Port. Strider Hiryu was really popular during this era. This game you reviewed some reviewers gave it low ratings or scores. CAPCOM SHOULD MAKE A MOVE ON THEIR OLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES LIKE FINAL FIGHT, ONIMUSHA, BREATH OF FIRE AND POWER STONE SERIES AND A NEW MARVEL VS CAPCOM THAT FEELS LIKE THE MARVEL VS CAPCOM AND MVS 2!

@@OlympusGamingTV Can you think of a reason why they are too focused on their Resident Evil games? Yes Dino Crisis went down hill when they released Dino Crisis 3, Dinosaurs time traveling in out space while you are in the space ship, THEY TOTALLY MESSED IT UP for the Playstation 2 and X-Box. Even Onimusha 3 was almost messed up with that Time Traveling story! OHHH AND A NEW RIVAL SCHOOLS SEQUEL! I like Breath Of Fire, Onimusha, Final Fight and Dino Crisis first! When it comes to Resident Evil they should do a second remake of the Resident Evil 96 Next will be Code Veronica then Resident Evil 0 and finally Resident Evil 4! Then after these go remake 5 and 6!
