What's up with turning your hand over for that hook I haven't seen any professional boxer serious one world champion do that none unless it's a generational thing. Seems like a great way to break your hand. Tyson or anyone throws a hook baby finger to the ground thumb to the sky

@Richerrr-g6g11 ай бұрын
If you look closely she’s wearing mma gloves, mma fighters throw their hooks like that because of the smaller gloves. You can sneak punches in easier which is why she’s turning her hand over like that to simulate sneaking the hook thru the guard. Other mma fighters do the same if you watch them train

Step back through an uppercut don't think so. Plant your feet and throw with bad intent. An uppercut from that distance opens you up to every kind of problem. Buster Douglas through an uppercut like that, to Holyfield and got knocked out with a counter right in the third round. Bad training can cost you.

The step back switch works... but why do a switch after a 1-2 when u can just do a 1 2 hook lol.. all that fancy stuff is coo, but lets be real and efficient
@jordanabraham4113 Жыл бұрын
Could be a great way to feint if you set up with a 1-2 switch kick to the liver.
@Banished-rx4ol Жыл бұрын
It is efficient, switch hitting is a great way to add power without load. Look at crawford or ennis who are competent switch hitters
@ThoNguyen21_ Жыл бұрын
@@Banished-rx4ol no one said it isn't efficient.. Crawford and ennis don't switch in middle of combos to make it unnecessary.. being able to switch is a huge advantage, this coach up north, he's a great coach himself for striking and I get what he's doing.. he does great work, but ima call out what I think Is unnecessary imo... love a great argument regarding this.. nothing disrespectful 🙏

@Product_Of_Culture11 ай бұрын
That works for boxing I guess. In a real life scenario you would never want to step back because this means you are losing ground. Whoever is moving forward will win the fight. Stepping backward from an engaged fight is considered a retreat.
@Richerrr-g6g11 ай бұрын
I have no idea what you’re talking about but street fight footage of trained fighters koing people off the back foot says otherwise there’s, & no difference between backing up in the cage/ring and streets, it’s actually better in the streets because I’m not in an enclosed ring so I can infinitely fight off the back foot, there’s no judges so whose to say I’m “losing”. There is no rule in the streets you can back up as much as you want and fight off the back foot to your hearts content

I think she's telegraphing the hook. With too much emphasis on raising the elbow. She should practice on elasticity of the arm and shoulder through momentum of upper body down through the hips. She's got the fast twitch but her form is slowing down her hooks. The only way to describe it, is like a Connor McGregor rubber arms strut. With practice it'll be really fast, with inertia. Watch Alex Pererira's hooks. He doesn't telegraph it.
@royeby3640 Жыл бұрын
WRONG form Coach! The hook, if thrown with real power, will injure the fighter's wrist, the way she's doing it. CORRECT WAY: Hook with POWER and SAFETY FOR the person throwing the punch SHOULD BE: Hand is VERTICAL NOT horizontal. Additionally, Thown CORRECTLY, more muscles are engaged. Reference EVERY World Champion Boxer. Rocky Marciano, Muhammed Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, The list goes on.

@@jamesc4196 I know some coaches teach it, but in my opinion the extra bit of range that you get isn’t worth it.. too easy to break the last two metacarpals. I teach Tyson style hooks unless you turn it over into an overhand.
