What liquid did you use for this project? I cannot find a liquid, like this, anywhere. Thanks!

Stripping maple chairs with corrosive stripper. Can water washing be done with a hose or pressure washer on low setting? And then wipe dry?
@napaea94602 жыл бұрын
The seat of that chair has a crack right down the middle. I found a chair just like it but then also noticed that it had a crack. I thought it was a goner, but I guess not? Is it still worth it to refinish these old beautiful chairs even if it has a crack?
@kattitude652 жыл бұрын
The seats are in sections glued together, not cracked. I have my parents’ almost identical maple dinette set from 1968 that I want to refinish soon. Still using it, 54 years after my dad bought it for my mom. Several of the seats are coming apart just like that one. Wood glue and clamps will have it back together like it never loosened.

Bruce you said she's water washing the other chair but that looks like a paste in her hand, or is it a small tub of water? Also where is the stripper draining to? a tank or a drain?
@brucelach44816 жыл бұрын
this is a flow tank for stripping ,it is liquid stripper ,that needs to be water washed ,after the piece is stripped ,i am stripping and jenna is water washing the chair ,

I think it should be OK to 'water wash' it with a water blaster (jet washer, whatever you call it where you are), and then wipe it dry with a rag. I'd be interested in any views on that.

That was an awesome video! Very helpful. Is it really just water to wash the chairs off or a special water?

I have the same chairs and mine is nothing near that perfect after stripping!! 😩 what stripper are you using?
@brucelach44815 жыл бұрын
this is a liquid industrial stripped ,it will burn the skin off your hands ,some times we run in to finish ,that is very hard to remove ,the finish on this chair was not that hard to remove ,they did use epoxy finish,s years ago ,on maple and pine chairs ,that stuff is very hard to remove ,get a good paste stripper ,but it on heavy ,let it set for a bit ,them work it of ,get some steel wool to help out with the job ,good luck ,its never easy ,but when it finish and you see what you did ,you will be happy ,take care

bruce lach what is this liquid stripper?
@deannapemberton13236 жыл бұрын
This is not a gel or paste stripper. This is liquid and has to be harsh to dissolve this finish. I'd like to know what it is as i hate the kleen stripper gel. Brush on. Wait. Scrape. Dries put. Do it again. Over and over. Scrape. Scrape and more scrape. Super time consuming.

Bruce you have the best video out there about stripping stained chairs. I have 6 chairs that have detail that need to be stripped so I bought Klean Strip thinking it was liquid but it still was a gel. I desperately need the liquid version you were using. Can you give me the specific name of it? Klean Strip has a bunch of options and I’ve tried two of them :)

Or maybe they don't care enough about themselves to put a mask on themselves. They aren't babies you know. People should be in charge of their own self. Don't make quick snap judgments when you don't even know.
