Yuzuha is his older sister, and he had to be extremely young when their mom died, which means he was probably getting beat at a very young age, so he was conditioned to fear Taiju. He was a big kid but is still the baby of the family.

I feel like they did takemichi so dirty in the anime alot of his scenes where he looked badass and strong especially the big moment where he tells hakkai what hurts more than anything and the punch he looked rather weak and they changed his facial expressions for quite a bit of scenes to look a bit softer, the thing I loved about manga takemichi is you could see how fuckin determined he was and how much he was gritting his teeth *figuratively and literally* to never give up, he even had blood on his teeth which was pretty cool.

I think the disparity with Takemitchy really comes from how fast you consume the series. Most english manga readers for the series likely discovered the series due to the anime coming out. So when we went to read it we had 200 plus chapters to blitz through. I read the 205 chapters that were out at the time in a single day. So for me I went from whats the start to what will be like season 4? Of the show in no time at all. So Takemitchy changed in the course of hours for me and I spent most of the time with him reading weekly from 205 to the end so I (and other readers) are more used to who Takemitchy becomes and knowing his role in the gang. Versus anime onlys who are consuming the story at a much slower pace and as such are dealing with Takemitchy not doing stuff for longer. Takemitchy is one of my favorite protagonist but I totally get thinking hes lame or annoying given the rate yall have had the story told to you.

Don't forget that Taiju has been stabbed. He's been fighting this entire time with a stab wound. Yes, it's shallow but notice that he hasn't really moved from his one spot. He knows if he moves too much he could aggravate the injury. He is also gradually increasing his strength as he fights using up energy. So yeah, Takemichi's one punch just tipped the scale to get him on his knees.

Been enjoying ur content for a while now, much appreciated. I feel like i've enjoyed this show a bit more when i tought a bit about the perspective of the protagonist being someone that haven't fought for nothing. For real, neither against someone else or for himself. Before it becomes about saving Hina and the people he meets in the new timeline, it was about his revenge against his weak self and the life he didn't live up to that point. As pathetic as it looks, the reason he can take those beatings is pure resolve, even being weak as fuck, he won't run away as he did before. Cause that was what made him even more uncapable of standing up for himself or others. Kid takemichi sure as hell couldn't throw hands too, but he wasn't a coward. He grew up to be one because after running away from Kioymasa and leaving his friends he ran away from himself as well. His revenge is to live that life as he should, driven by that essence he always had, to stand up.
