Hi Dr. Tobias , I would have never thought that half round blue roll will make such a difference. I only started doing these exercises yesterday afternoon. Before I went to bed I could lift up my arm straight forward. Next morning ( today ) I woke up with crazy muscle pain. 😀 I can not thank you enough for all your videos. Thank you so much. You are giving my life back. 🥲

Recently I have taken to sleeping on tatami style mat. My thinking is that as an infant ND toddler all.this arm extension was a natural result of the ambulatory theater. So my therapy room now resembles a toddlers crib with a few extras, a mini trampoline, several aerobic step up blocks, resistance bands, hand rails, etc. Designing new challenges in safe ways with material o hand is the ride I'm on, and I am with much concentration now able to open a doorwith left hand. It's slow going, but it's going. Appreciate this channel so much! Peace!

Doc, you are my saviour, Thank you! Doc, I haven't been able to walk and talk for many years now, I won't give up. I work out every minute of the day, but the result almost seems like i'm going nowhere. There are so many areas I need to fix, you give me hope. How should I plan my programs in a day? What's the rule to set up priority? What are the important areas?How long for each session?

Hi Dr.Tara. What exercises can I do for extending the arm, as if to put it on a car steering wheel? I found your videos by chance, and I have found hope again, after eight years. I have gained about 30% arm movement since the stroke. I have an FES portable unit, if that can help.

Hi doctor Tara, thanks for a great video. My physio has showed me some exercises to do with my cane, but at the moment i am getting a lot of pain with my left arm which is my affected arm so i am unable to do much, the physio suggested there might be some impingement occurring and said to contact my GP for some strong pain killers which i did, unfortunately they have had little effect.I am feeling really frustrated as i feel the pain is hold me back from full recovery. should i continue with the exercises or contact the GP for a different pain relief. also whats you thoughts about steroid injections. many thanks Richard

I also had a shoulder subluxation but after physio input. Follow up doc appointment X-ray was done and it has gone back in I am usable to left my left arm right up but with support I can I also wearing a a support for my shoulder but if I take it off my hand just hang down and it seems to me it pulled down my shoulder and it is uncomfortable heavy without the support. My questions what can help to reduce the heaviness in my hand. I get a lots of spasms in my left foot. I go walking, gym and its ok but it’s hard work. I am independent with all my hygiene care and I use my right hand to support the poorly hand.

Thank you for watching and for sharing your story Anthony!! Generally speaking, most people require an ankle foot orthosis after a stroke. That is a very broad category and most times it requiries working with an orthotist. Do you guys have orthotists? It is a person who will take a mold of your ankle and make a custom brace either made out of plastic (or in some cases now) carbon.

Hi Linda, sorry for the delayed response. Just now getting caught up on answering comments. I am not sure that any one muscle group is "better" to focus on. Especially in the early stages. But this is probably a pretty common question. So stay tuned and I will break this down in a video in the next couple of weeks. :)

My hubby’s stroke arm is flaccid. Do have a video for him?
@rehabhqofficial

Here are a couple of videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6acnpeae7OIZ5Y (this air splint works well to get shoulder movement back and keep the arm straight. It is common for shoulder to come back first so this would be helpful if he is still in the flaccid stage. Here is a "weight bearing" activity which is also critical in the early (flaccid) stage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJnSiYNrqsp2aLs. I hope this helps!

Hi Doc, I am 7 years into my stroke. Have regained almost all my movements of hand an leg but I am not able to use them for any useful purpose. Because of severe pain tingling and pins & needle feeling in complete affected side. Palm and sole feel they have been crushed freshly. Any smaller movement generates a whole lot of pain. At time both hand and leg become very heavy. Kindly suggest.

Thanks for watching and for sharing your story. Generally speaking, some strokes (especially in the thalamus) can cause more "hypersensitivity to pain". The other thing that can cause this is not moving. If someone is hypersensitive to small movements and/or touch on the skin, I usually suggest to just do a little movement but do it like 10 times a day. ;) I hope that helps!

Got you on small movements for hypersensitivity , but is there treatment for the tingling and numbness in pulp of finger. I have full movement of hand but find it difficult to grasp and be aware of what Im touching. Thanks👍
