I like all these engines, but the most impressive to me is the big block Ford. It made great power with small'ish 325cc heads (it could use bigger) and pump gas! Using a stock block with 1000+ horsepower and torque is awesome and most don't realize that they will take that kind of abuse all day long!

Based on the power numbers the engine made I don’t think it made a big difference. HP barely exceeding torque, and peak power at only around 6500 RPM on an engine with a solid lifter cam means the heads are still restrictive for the rest of the combo.

Notice how the Raised Chrysler big block 440 Magnum engine block design that surrounds the crank shaft unlike ford and gm where the engine block ends at the crank shaft center line and the oil pan starts. That makes for a bullet proof bottom end. Remember the Ram chargers kids. Chrysler engineers who raced on the weekends. The other BBC the King is the Hemi which has the raised block and addition too that has cross bolt main caps. Yes guys were running Nitro in these engines at the race track in the 60's. Chrysler Big Blocks rule the race track to this day. Fastest excellerating machines on the planet @ 500 cubic inches.

I always thought studs were suppose to be installed finger-tight only. Maybe next time you build some big-inch engines, you tap into the General's BOP monsters. TA Performance has all you need for Buicks, including blocks. Rocket Racing and Performance has blocks n swag for Olds, and Indian Adventures does the same for Pontiac. But likely since Summit doesn't carry any of that, you'll never build them. Oh well...

@Broadpaw_Fox3 жыл бұрын
It absolutely never hurts anything. On a normal daily driver engine, it's not as critical as long as you do your maintenance regularly. But given the choice when building, it's definitely a good idea to go mains priority - it'll save the bottom end if anything does go tits up compared to the alternative. ;)
