Usually these beasts of a bar are reserved for those squatting 1000lbs. They're also usually extremely expensive. In today's video we take a look at a bar that's not only affordable, but it might be more functional for your every day lifter!

Brandon: Nice going on giving Ironwolfe a shout-out. I am fortunate to have 5 of these terrific barbells, including one deadlift bar, all are custom made. I am also fortunate to have journeyed to York, PA, and have met Lisa and Keith Wolfe at their shop back in 2013. They are now retired, but their barbells endure. Mine are all stainless steel, and they were about $1000 each; worth it for the lifetime craftsmanship.

Eric Tong even the most resistant bars can oxidize, upkeep will just be better. Stainless is supposedly the best, followed by cerakote. I would prefer stainless as there’s not as much “filling” as there is in cerakote. Rogue usually provides a graphic that rates corrosion pretty well on any of the bar pages.

How do you find this bar and the strong arm deadlift bar hold against oxidation? They claim to be made of a different steel that is less easy to rust and they are noticeably a different colour when compared to standard bare steel bars.

i got an olympic bar that has a limit of 661lbs (revised) - 300kg so i think i'll be good for a good number of years at least. for me that Bodymax bar is all purpose. it costs around 500 dollar all in package deal with 215kg of weight plates and 20kg bar the 235kg deal - 518lbs i dont think it matters to start out with the best bar. i'll keep using mine until it bends out of shape lol i dont see point in having multiple bars unless your running a gym business. i would consider different types of bar like axle bar, farmers walk bars, trap bar, curl bar because they serve different purposes but not loads of 1 type of bar lol

I just bought this bar and I regret not getting the rogue one because the ribbing on the collars is too aggressive. It's scraping the paint off of my brand new plates. In my experience any good plate with tight tolerances (calibrated, machined) the insides rub off on any normal 2" olympic bar. Has happened to my ivankos, rogues, hansu, and strengthco's. They make the plates as exact as possible and the paint/powdercoat/ecoat) are an extra layer on top of that. They don't usually account for leaving extra room, thus it gets rubbed/wear easily.

@@BasementBrandon Eh my opinion doesn't mean much. I've been training mostly in commercial gyms with sub-par to mediocre equipment. The bar I'm using now was from Fitness Gear and it came with "255 lbs" worth of weight. I'm in the camp of just starting to buy nice gym equipment because I truly believe this virus isn't going away for a while (until we get a vaccine). This pandemic is just an excuse to buy "nice" stuff lol. I'll never have another squat bar to compare it to, so I'm sure I'll love it because it's my one and only (and a lot nicer than what I have now). I'm riding off your opinion and reviews on the site. You and Coop have been helping me out quite a bit and grateful for what ever information I can get before spending hundreds of dollars on equipment. By the way, you've definitely have turned me into a StrongArm fan. Their calibrated plates (in USD) is cheaper than Rogue six shooters. I don't want to convert to kilos for several reasons, but I'm considering since they are calibrated and I do enjoy the accuracy for that price point. It's hard to pass up.

@@BasementBrandon Hi Brandon! You were right about that squat bar, it's amazing. I love it. For the price and quality, you truly can't beat it. The only thing I have noticed is that there are parts of the knurling that are nonexistent. Like they just chopped off the "volcanic" tips. It does bug me but it sticks to my back fine. Love the 32 mm. Excellent bar. It's my favorite piece of equipment, bar none lol I live in Michigan and it's pretty humid right now. But there is absolutely zero rust on my squat bar. I also grabbed a Rep Power Bar EX that came in August. I was out in my garage yesterday and found rust on my power bar but still none on my squat bar! It was so odd. The Rep PB is amazing too! Do you think it's worth still owning a OPB? I want it in bare steel but I also feel like I've spent a lot of money on bars lol. I also kind to want to know what a OPB feels like since I've only heard great things about them. Dude, I have been absolutely loving your content. Love the new rack (plus bells and whistles), dumbbells and Echo Bike! I want one but I will have to hold off on that purchase for the time being. What an awesome set-up.
