Seen Pav compete at Glasgow gaints and he was amazing considering he'd been ill on the lead up and lost a bit of weight. I think he'll be very competitive, top 3

If you look back to the days of capes and sigmarsson the arm over arm event used to feature a lot, I remember them pulling boats up ramps and other mad stuff, really tough event.

@@iysaw which athletes should I research more? I don’t “research” because I spend all day coaching athletes who compete against these guys semi regular. So I know 90% of them and their lifts off the top my head, and most their comp performances ha (not all) but if you think I missed someone out I’ll have a gander. If you’re mainly saying it just because I picked pavlo over licis on stone, then I can’t say much haha that’s my opinion 😅

watch Novikov do yoke-log last year. He was the opposite of slow. He was fast on the yoke , did 2 reps easy then rushed the 3rd rep which he failed and the log fell of the pads so lost a good 15-20 seconds. If he does the same but does 3rd log rep just fine then he should get around 40-43 seconds.

"He's a gritty bastard". Yeah, that would be my description of Novikov as well. But I'd put my money on Liscis any day of the week, mainly because of his consistency. Not necessarily the best in any one event, but no real weaknesses either.

I think Novi will do well on the arm over arm. At Wus Dubai 2021 he only lost to Mateusz on an arm over arm pull, and Mateusz is insane on that event.

Shane is an awesome coach, one of the best in the game. But when it comes to these sorts of videos, maybe a bit more research is needed into the events and the athletes past performances? The 18" deadlift is using a squat bar, which will hinder Novikov slightly because he won't get the same level of flex from the bar. Novikov is so good at elevated deadlifts because he uses a very narrow stance and grip, which increases the amount of flex and makes the point the full weight leaves the ground even higher. This won't necessarily be the case with a stiffer squat bar.

Martins is unbeatable without the peddling , meddling Fixing Colin Bryce who rigs events that's why strongman is a joke mate well at least Giants live and WSM for many many years the winner has been rigged by event selection. NOT every year but a lot of years. If powerlifting had OVERHEAD PRESS as fourth lift it would be a truer evaluation of strength than strongman. The obsession with only deadlift and log lift is ridiculous in strongman... no bench press or super heavy squat events.

I mean that true but it can be also be said that those strongman who are Strong with the "main events" is a significant indication of how strength is shown. If you excel in a event good but theres more than one event and it's kind of is what it is. Matuesz is good on dumbbell, frame, etc. but deadlift he not good at so it's a pick a choose.
