If the first caller is correct, I would be more afraid for my life. There are many example of people telling elaborate lies - who then go on to kill rather than let the lie get exposed. Because they told an intricate lie that is compounded across time, it makes the truth feel like the end of the world. So rather than face the consequences they kill (family, friends etc) so they never have to face the consequences. I’ve literally seen this exact story twice in true crime documentary’s. Now I’m not saying this guy is in danger. But if his wife is willing to tell a lie this elaborate then there is something seriously wrong. It’s no longer about a lie. It’s about a person being incredibly unwell and doing acts that border on psychosis. He should be afraid and take this more seriously than he is.

She even worked in a medical clinic, and how she got caught, she didn't know some of the skills required. The clinic then checked with the school records, and she never even attended. It blows my mind that the employer didn't check at the university right away and just trusted what she said and a fake transcript. She faked a transcript by stealing someone else's and editing the name, SS # and birth date. Employers should always request an official copy sent from the school, and a transcript that never touches the hands of the person they are interviewing. The Feds btw can request a transcript without permission, and that is how it was confirmed she committed fraud.

I also lied about finishing college. First, I lied to my parents and then I kept the lie going in case my friends spoke to my parents, and so on. I wasn’t doing anything shady, I was just really struggling with my mental health. Admitting I didn’t finish college meant letting others know I wasn’t okay. It sounds illogical and most people would think we’re evil but we’re not. Maybe some people are just pathological liars but it doesn’t apply to everyone. When your parents place such high expectations on you, you’re afraid to disappoint them. When you were punished for being honest and making normal mistakes, you learn to hide your failures. I live with the shame and guilt every day. I try to not lie about other things, and I’m going back to college so it won’t be a lie anymore.
@alyross2850Күн бұрын
I feel that. I came from a home where there would never be approval, never a “good job”, never a compliment. Teeny tiny mistakes are seen as earth shattering so you can never tell your parents anything at all. It was a life centered around crying over spilled milk. Creates an anxiety that is inescapable. You just cannot trust another person to know that you are not perfect so you start to hide things and those things lead to lies. I get it.

@meganchambers8108Күн бұрын
To be honest the idea that she's just sitting in a coffee shop or even just in her car in the parking garage for HOURS -- I have known a liar like this and I fully believe this could be the case. Sitting for hours in boredom just to perpetuate the lie is not unheard of for these people.

Did she fail a class and was embarassed to tell you? If you fail certain nursing courses, you have to retake the class before you can move to the next semester. It is not uncommon to fail a class. Nursing school is very hard. I had a family member who entered nursing school with 80 students. Only 40 graduated. This is not uncommon.

Graduating from Nursing school was one of the proudest moments of my adult life. There’s no way I would not have shared my transcripts, Dean’s list, graduation! She should be able to show her Nursing License by now, you can go on the State Board of Nursing for your State and verify her licensure.

I think I have watched way too many true crime and dark documentaries. As I see, people that lie to this extent about education and careers, usually go far enough to harm friends and loved ones when they figure out their lies. So scary!

Yeah. Where was she? She needs to account for the time. And he needs to look at his lack of engagement with his life. “I was working so…” He’s so buried in work that he doesn’t notice her lying about her whereabouts multiple times per week for over a year? Either she’s an Olympic deceiver or he’s not plugged in.

People often lie because they are afraid or ashamed or they think they have to lie to cover up other, previous lies. If you are sympathetic instead of playing "gotchya," you might take the pressure off her to where she can tell the truth. Or she might be a jerk lying about all kinds of stuff. Hire a private detective for a couple of days, maybe.

I watch a lot of true crime, two cases come to mind where the son had a friend murder his family because he faked going to school, but his father escaped, and another where the husband killed his wife and baby because he lied about medical school. He went home to England. I pray that the man who's wife is lying about becoming a nurse is okay and has taken the wise advice he was given

Why would she lie about this? She must have flunked out and is terrified to admit that to even her husband. I wouldn't just walk out on her but she needs some derious help. I'd be more worried about why she didn't feel like she could talk about it with you. I'd understand if she felt she needed to keep up appearances with strangers, but with ppl , who should she feel safe with??? Most likely, she started to fail or failed a hurdle assessment. As soon as you find out, it would be good to find a lower qualification like a nurse assistant and support her to start working. I've seen a few ppl banging their heads on a closed door cos they let their identity get caught up in a certain degree they can't finish.

People ( me included) want to believe the lies sometimes, we are oblivious sometimes, because we already trust them and people in general are not “all” bad … so we’ve seen the “good” side and it’s difficult to marry all the sides of a person that has lied to us in such dramatic ways.

Sounds like Michael's wife is a professional liar. She got her degree in BS (not Bachelor's of Science). I could see if she said to him, "look I failed school. I wasn't doing well and I was embarrassed to tell everyone." I think I could have more respect for her. The fact that she tries to manipulate and gaslight her husband is just bizarre. Something is going on with her and if he's going to get out, he should do it now before he's too far in and kids get involved.
