I think another thing Shroud does is he seems to heavily use audio cues to figure out where an offscreen opponent might be, which could also help attribute to why his reaction time is so amazing. The brain will process audio stimulus (takes about 8-10ms) before visual (20-40ms), so i strongly believe that's also something someone who is aspiring to be a good aimer should work on as well This was such a pleasure to watch

He’s forgetting that Shroud plays on 240hz+ which is why his reaction time seems so much faster than average. If you’re on 60hz, chances are, the person won’t even show up on your screen before Shroud will have reacted on high refresh rate.

I thought I was the only maniac keeping track of humidity numbers and correlating it with mousepad performance. I bought "normal mousepads" (even mousepads shroud used) for years yet in my 70+ humidity climate it just never made sense how people could microadjust consistently, some days the thing would be as quick as brand new (odd 50% humidity day) and others it felt horrible. Got an AC+ Sakura and started to find a semblance of consistency ever since.

his sensitivity is pretty ideal as a standard sensitivity for most fps games. If anyone wants a starting point its a solid one and you can lower a few pegs or go higher if needed. But I've always liked how its fast enough so you can turn around quickly if needed but still you can control precision wise. When I started playing csgo way back I copied his sens and eventually ended up dropping it 0.1 and I've pretty much stayed there since.

This is an amazing video to watch for anyone looking to get better in any FPS game overall. However, I would like to add that most if not all the skills that are presented in this video were learned through cs. As an 8 year cs player, I watched this and already learned all these skills of gameplay. With that being said, I'm not saying that I'm in any way shape or form as good as shroud, but I have developed a very decent playstyle that transfers to all FPS games. I very quickly find myself getting good at any new games I try, and would recommend to anyone looking to learn these skill to check out cs in order to learn all of the crucial skills in order to improve!!

Yeah seems like you've got the right idea there. I would caution against the idea of having a set in stone 'perfect' number or setup though. If it works best for now, or even for months in the future that's great, but things can change over time and it's good to be flexible if you need it.

Another thing about shroud that is amazing is that he is never glued to the center of his screen. He is always checking his map, inside of windows, or onto where is crosshair is placed to be able to pre- aim and pre- fire someone. Which is probably how he developed such insane reaction times. Also his reflexes help him out a ton. I have pretty decent reflexes but have yet to apply them in- game as I think too much when aiming in- game.

This made me realize a lot, especially why i'm dying more often than not. (I'm also brand new to shooters xd) Very familiar with kbm tho, and I've noticed it has given me a slight advantage to a newer player starting on cont. With that said, I have a mousepad I've been using for years due to comfort. It's a 10 dollar pad with a gel pad that pops up for my wrist. If I have my chair equal to the height of the wrist pad, it makes my movement insanely precise. Pretty much enabling all wrist or arm if I choose, or both. Lotta people have tried it and absolutely hate it, but I never have wrist issues and I game 5-6 h/d. I suggest giving it a whirl if you haven't, or if you have and didn't like it, adjust your chair height to see if you can combat the uncomfortable nature you're experiencing!

@@absolutelysobeast I went with the Corsair scimitar. It's a great fit for my grip. It's a little heavy but I've adapted to it. It also has 12 side buttons and is adjustable for comfort. That was one of the problems with the g303 for me. The side buttons were too far back. Also the extra thumb button options are a great benefit as a former controller player. I really do miss the g303. Really good mouse but I just couldn't get comfortable with the grip. If they make a larger model I'll definitely try it :)

i’ll add a further analysis. The same mechanisms cowboys use to point and shoot their guns without actually taking the time to aim from the head and often times from a hip fire position is essentially what shroud is doing when he points and shoots. the sensitivity that he’s figured out for himself allows him to do that very effectively. so it’s all about making it an instinct

Man, that was a great video, I used to be fan of Shroud's gameplays and you bring very useful information from this. I want to ask, do you know why a mouse never land in the place you expected? I have tried everything, and my mouse always go further than i expected. I have a g502 hero. Before, it work fine but after some Windows update, it messed up. I format the pc but the problem persist. Do you know some crítical tweak for the mouse in the registry for example? Something i could have overlooked. (acceleration is completely off in Windows)
@absolutelysobeast
@absolutelysobeast 3 ай бұрын
It could be acceleration in game. Or it still could be the acceleration in windows. “Enhance pointer precision” is the option. If those two things are very definitely turned off, it could be the mouse. Check your dpi and make sure its exactly what you are expecting it to be. Some mice also have like a “motion snyc” or similar setting in the mouse itself or the software. Next to check would be your game. Check your cm/360 about 10 times and log the results. Look for any patterns or consistencies. Next to check would be your ads sensitivity mulitpier and make sure thats set where it should be. What type of mouse do you have? Are you running wired or wireless? Bluetooth? Is the mouse in proper working order and not worn out or old? Basically you need to be very diligent and scientific by systematically identifying and eliminating any and all variables. If you care enough, spend the time going down this path and you will find it out!

0:24 is truly the real secret... I been telling people for years the key to constant aim is muscle memory and that muscle memory is literally my muscles in my fingers/wrist/arm knowing how much I need to move across my mouse pad, I know in reality what my physical movement of my mouse needs to be... enemy could be 60 degrees to the right and seems far but it's only a slight movement of your mouse.

First, thank you for your time and also for the explanation about other players; most of the guys thought that they were going to play a game and have 60 kills and be done; it is a lot of things to do before you start to play any game: You have to be 100% to play the game Good computer Super internet connection Lower ping Good mouse setup with the pad Gaming monitor The good or custom gaming table The most important thing is to practice the game before you play Record your matches for at least the last 5 minutes to analyze what went wrong and correct the mistake Know your sensitivity tested and apply Prepare your guns for max ADS & MOBILITY The last thing, think before you move; good luck because this one has only 0.5 milliseconds

I think it's important to note that although should has insane flicks, I highly doubt that's how he would have practiced and learned... I used to just shoot first aim later, but you won't improve like that. You need to slow it down and focus on your mouse movement, slowly you will get used to the feel, then the flicks will come, due to having practiced with intent to improve.

Yep, vast majority of things involving the development of muscle memory stem from accuracy -> precision, rather than the other way around. Then again some people are just wickedly talented and it just clicks in their brains. Regardless, generally yes, slow and steady and ease off of conscious intent to acclimatize your hand-eye coordination.

you counted how many frams it takes to react during the reaction time part. I feel that its hard to gauge this considering what we see is different from what they see ( a recorded video at 60 fps compared to them on there 244 hz). I had a personal thing that happened where i peeked during my own flash and saw them for a split second. my friends didnt see teh dude at all, and looking at vod the enemy was only on 6 frames or atleast a very small amount, but when in realtime it felt like i saw the enemy for a really long time and felt like i had a lot of time to react. More visible frames really does change how you view things. If you want another example, having lower frames make things seem faster. If you speedrun, say like mirrors edge, 60 frames is fast in istelf but when you edit a video to be 24 frames it seems like things happen instantly and the gameplay seems explosive and even faster than before, but its a visual effect cause of the missing frames and jumping from one frame to another.
@StruthGaming

Correct me if i'm wrong, but when watching 60fps, the error margin is 0-33ms. To combat this, I used multiple instances (others not included in the video) to ensure I wasn't just cherry picking a result and the outcomes were very similar. It is important to choose scenarios that would elicit an instant reaction time response though. Some situations there may be a slight intentional delay lining up a shot, so I had to be careful in which ones were used. While the method isn't perfect i'm happy with a 0-33ms margin when assessing it across multiple clips to at least get a rough idea of what his reaction time is.
@SABRE117
@SABRE117 Жыл бұрын
@@StruthGaming yep, i think it is not so important to know exactly what his reaction time is for this analysis video, just to know that in general he is faster is enough. In the end reaction time is just one of the factors that did not matter that much as combination of pre aim and aim itself for example if it is not monstrous like

Great video. The only thing that sucks about the g303 SE is that they slightly increased the size vs the standard, as someone with oddly sized hands (super wide but quite short) I've found the slight size adjustment to be super noticeable, I wish there was a slightly modded version of it because I think it's an absolutely fantastic mouse in every other aspect.

Mouse grip is subjective, its going to differ person to person on preference. What you want is that ultimate focus flow state when playing, where every moment you are 100% focused on the game, your actions, and next actions, nothing else. You want to widen your literal eye focus to track the entire screen and look for movement, then snap to it and execute. You also need to combine this with knowledge of the map, and how to position well - Good cover, playing corners properly, "head glitching" cover so you expose the least amount of your body to the enemy while they barely see you. Good crosshair placement is important too. The idea is for the reticle to be at the ready and have the least amount of motion to land a shot, so this means as you move, the crosshair is always at the ready for the most likely spot an enemy will approach from.

aiming.pro/mouse-sensitivity-calculator will convert your cm/360 across games. It's a good starting point, but if the gap in FOV is large or the games have significant differences in mobility/verticality then you'll probably still want to experiment a bit.

I've had the mouse slide around in my hands and it has gotten me killed. 703 was close but the quality of it sucked. 4 months and it died cause the mouse wheel is ass. Gunna give the 303 a go.

How do I calculate these distances taking dpi into account?
@absolutelysobeast
@absolutelysobeast 3 ай бұрын
You start your mouse at a fixed point on the pad and move it until you do exactly a 360 spin and measure the distance between those 2 points. Convert the distance to cm and there you go. Cm/360. Dpi doesnt really factor in very much. Alot of people like 800dpi, true arm aimers love 400dpi. I myself prefer 1600dpi. I just lower the in game sense to a much lower number. Slightly less input lag and makes navigating windows far easier. Im around 38-40cm/360 and its awesome for me personally. for me its right on the edge of being too slow for warzone which means i have max precision with the minimum required speed. Obviously it varies by game though

Different games use different FOV scales, so R6 uses vertical degrees while others often use horizontal degrees (HFOV). 90 vertical degrees is equivalent to 121 horizontal degrees. Easier to show them all converted to the same FOV when comparing them.

that's awful to do in-game. it's better to focus on a specific point on the screen, as if you see a enemy on the screen thats 2 meters away from you on the right, you focus on his movements rather than your movements, you then follow him and this leads to greater tracking etc, also removes the tunnel vision from your part.

It's more than just aim, it's risk, hunches, and confidence and a good balance between them. Shroud dies a lot in games, so people will mostly see videos of him dominating. So not many people understand what positions he puts himself thru to be able to flick between targets in very difficult situations. The best way to learn is by playing very small TDM or jumping into hot drops in a BR. Keeping a good memory of all the players you see scattered around and not forgetting about them. Besically, you need to TRY more to get amazing results. Think you can flick to 5 people in seconds, try it anyway. Think it's unlikely? Sit this one out and come back when you're serious about getting better.

@StruthGaming
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
Cm/360 is the real life distance you move the mouse to spin 360 degrees in-game. So 41cm/360 in PUBG means Shroud would have to move his mouse 41cm (or 16.1 inches) to spin 360 degrees. Cm/360 is a useful measurement because it allows us to compare mouse sensitivity between games. Most games use a different in-game sensitivity so we can't compare it with that.

I'm 34, I recently started gaming a few years ago and I tried the human benchmark... I'm extremely proud to say my very quickest reaction time was 149ms but I can consistently get 150-170ms. If I test myself for too long I feel like my brain gets fatigued and I start second guessing my reactions and clicking early and or just getting slower times. My worse was 223ms. Maybe it doesn't matter for most of you but being in my mind 30s and a competitive gamer I already feel old most of the time but this makes me feel pretty good. Am I nearly as good as shroud? Absolutely not... Can I hold my own and be in the top 10-25% in most fps games? Absolutely!
@slice6027
@slice6027 Жыл бұрын
The reaction speed is off with the ms. Shroud doesn’t play in 60hz so the rendered video comes out slower than the original. Not by a huge margin but on ms seconds scale stil relatively a good gap
@StruthGaming
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
There's a potential error margin of 0-33ms. To help combat this I tested many different scenarios (only showed a few in the video) to ensure I wasn't just cherry picking a result, for better or worse. It's not perfect but it's close enough that I feel it's still worth talking about.
