This is a good discussion. Both parties come in good faith and are articulate. IMO, faith is vital, and its value is even greater when we wrestle with difficult concepts. Sometimes, people falsely believe that something that seems "true" about evolution or, more broadly, science conflicts with "truths" of religious convictions or philosophy. Science is borne from philosophy.

That genuine hug at the end sums it all up. So many people, rightfully so, their highest virtue or goal in life is to love, be loved, and be loving. There is no single greater example of that other than the Life of Jesus, His teachings, and His death on a cross. What I always postulate is this ; You already want the right things , so in light of wanting to materialize this highest virtue and not just pontificate about it, why settle for some watered down mirage or reiteration using my best efforts or the efforts of those who merely echo Christ , why not seek and follow the most solid , tangible , and universally agreed upon beacon of love and light , Jesus of Nazareth? Wouldn’t this stabilized and focused clarity increase my chances of actually materializing this valid virtue ? The deity of Christ , forgiveness of sin and salvation will naturally flow from there . God bless

"There is no single greater example of that other than the Life of Jesus, His teachings, and His death on a cross" Interesting. How many of your children have you killed to atone for your own mistakes?
@igobydubri3 күн бұрын
@@frosted1030 Hey dude, I’m not entirely sure what you’re saying here since comment sections don’t tend to be the most clear. But there seems to be a disconnect in the supposed parallel. I’m not the Father in Heaven, and my kids aren’t the eternal Son of God, so in light of that being a reality larger than life, that sacrifice is on a scale much greater than merely a wicked and petty human sacrifice. Now if your question is to question the Justice and love of the cross, I get it, because the cross is misunderstood every day in millions of ways. According to Christ, The wrath of God is real, and by being the eternal Son, only the incarnate Jesus has the capacity and capability absorb eternal and divine wrath, and to atone for the sins of any and all human beings who fully trust in Him and not themselves, to be reconciled to the God. Picture this, only a purely white and good canvas has the blank page to absorb ink , in this case divine wrath. Is that a get out of jail free card to be a falsely converted hypocrite? No because according to Jesus judgment is much harsher for people who trample on his blood with no regard , true reverence , or understanding for what he did. Jesus willingly sacrificed himself out of love for the Father, and for humans who are desperately wicked and need forgiveness. there’s no human being I know besides little children who can pretend they aren’t wicked and don’t have a multitude of sins, that an Omniscient and Just God won’t just simply gloss over, for that would be unjust. The cross displays divine love, and divine wrath, so yes, the love of the Holy one dying for his enemies, wicked humans, in grace and humility , displayed there is a love greater than we can imagine. Take care friend . God bless
@frosted10303 күн бұрын
@@igobydubri "I’m not the Father in Heaven" This does not matter. Basically, you worship the villain of your fables. It's a simple calculation, if you would lock away a person for committing the same crime, your imaginary friend does NOT get a pass. "According to Christ, The wrath of God is real" Wait.. you are scared of your imaginary friend too? Maybe you need help. "No because according to Jesus judgment is much harsher for people who trample on his blood with no regard , true reverence , or understanding for what he did." Fear of a penalty that you can neither justify nor example.. this is a bit crazy, ya know? It's like a conman visiting promising you to give you all the gold in the world, just be his slave and die FIRST. Umm.. what did you fall for here? "Jesus willingly sacrificed himself out of love for the Father, and for humans who are desperately wicked and need forgiveness." No culture on Earth allows justice by proxy. Example: Let's say it's your family, brutally raped and murdered in front of you. You are justifying the idea that an innocent person can tell the state "forgive the madman that murdered, let him go free without consequence, and you can put me to death instead for I love you all". What court would that fly in? And IF it actually worked that way, how would YOU feel seeing that murdering rapist go free and passing him on the street knowing he will do it again, and is exonerated? See, this is insanity. "The cross displays divine love" No, it was a torture device invented to make an example of criminals. Besides... think of the fantasy you have. Let's say you were put to death in an electric chair only to find (after you somehow magically came back to life thousands of years later) people wore electric chairs around their necks, and called it devine love? That's just weird and wrong. The question is.. how brainwashed are you? Can you even think a little about all this?
@igobydubri3 күн бұрын
@@frosted1030 you calling Me brainwashed by reading two comments from me says it all. I never said the cross was invented for love, obviously it was a torture device, so let’s not play word games. And last but not least, you continue to reduce this all to earthly comparisons and examples. If Jesus was simply a regular human being, sure. No human is innocent like Christ to just step in a courtroom and take a sentence and let a murderer go free. That’s not even what’s being proposed. You’re getting all worked up about Justice, God is more worked up than you are, and it’s actually a perfect calculation. I’ll keep it straight with you cause I actually believe these things and I actually have a care for You, So when he serves Justice to you, don’t be surprised. The claim of Jesus isnt that he’s some random “good” human who is getting killed and tortured to let criminals go free. The claim is He’s the Son of God, absorbing divine wrath, wrath that according to Him is already on our heads and compounding. Instead of perpetually questioning the Justice of God, or how gullible you think I am, think about your sins and transgressions against quite possibly the judge of all , and ask yourself, do I really want to reject what Christ claims he did for me, or do I wanna have that wrath on my head distracted by how I don’t understand how this all works?

I try to be good, try to follow the Lord but I stuble, every time I do try to, and when I’m with my friends, even though they arent bad people, I will always sin around them. Whether that’s cursing, or hating on them for dumb reasons. I don’t know if you can hear the voice of God when you pray, but I dont. It feels like an empty prayer to no one… please, I need some kind of help. I want to fully believe in God but the devil keeps on trying to steer my mind away from him. I don’t know if emotions play a part, but ever since i was little (still am), i couldn’t feel emotions, whether it was little or big emotions. All i could “feel” as “emotions” was wnjoyment, of course I felt some sorrow, some grief, but other than that, I had no big emotions. Human beings are social creatures, we've evolved empathy for others, even those who live thousands of miles away in another continent to whom we have no connection with, a good example is Live Aid in 1984, 40 years ago Bob Geldof started a Charity that helped people dying of starvation in Ethiopia. There are also examples of atheists sacrificing their lives to save others. Many parents would sacrifice their own lives to save the life of their own child.
@bigtxsdude4 күн бұрын
you are absolutely correct… just look how many deadbeat parents there are in this world, if evolution is all there is l, parents should have an evolutionary drive, but sadly we know that frequently they are not
@dentonhahn29074 күн бұрын
Hello Bonnie! The question is why? Why should you care for others at all? The kid did well at giving his thoughts, but I think he is wrong. I think evolution is a myth when it comes to where value comes from, or where empathy comes from.
@bonnie43uk4 күн бұрын
@@dentonhahn2907 Because we are social beings denton, we have an inbuilt nature to show empathy for others, even if they are not related to us, this is also prevalent in lots of other animals who will go out of their way to protect animals they are not related to. eg: a herd of water buffalo will gang up on a lion who is trying to take a young water buffalo, putting their own lives at risk. I don't think any answer I give you will convince you, but that's ok. All comments are welcome 🙂
@createnotconsume77214 күн бұрын
@bonnie43uk this is an example of tribalism. Water buffalo protecting their own herd. But would a water buffalo protect something like a mouse being attacked by a snake. I don't think it would.
@dentonhahn29074 күн бұрын
@bonnie43uk that doesn't answer the question of why? Evolution is based on survival of the fitness, so it doesn't compute to help those who are a strain on society. It dose not explain purpose or value. A water buffalo will also attack it's own, and kill it's own in order to maintain it's status in the heard, so is that also something society should practice? Think you know you are not a water buffalo.

It seemed like Stewart did well especially when he used the analogy of information through ink blots on paper. And how this meaning was for a sandwich. Where did the information behind each symbol come from originally? Randomness, or a mind. Each letter had to have it's own meaning, then be put together with other ink blots.

@@bonnie43uk Sounds like another miracle you are believing in, to add to how information got into the DNA to tell the molecules of the cell what to do, and how the molecules had to be ready to listen, and carry out the instructions, and then replicate it to the next cell. And the fine tuning of the Universe fo have life on this planet is miraculous. And why there is something instead of nothing, another miracle. And how intelligent life came from non-life, another miracle. And how the rational mind came from the irrational. You are just filled with faith.

@@scottm4042 lots of those questions science is still trying to answer scott, just because we don't know everything does not mean that the only remaining answer is "God did it", there is absolutely no shame in saying what Cliffe often says "I do not know".

@@bonnie43uk "Scientists" are trying to answer, apart from God. And are failing, and will never be able at answer most of them, because they would just be guessing, as no one was there at creation (the beginning) except God. So, it will always be a faith position. You even have to put faith that science will give an answer apart from God. This will always fail, if there is a God, as I claim the Bible says there is. So, you will always be unsatisfied in your answer. And you will never move to where you can know. On the other hand, the Bible says you can know God. If you want to claim that I believe in the God of the gaps, you are right, but not only that, but the God of the things we do know as well. And what are atheists? Believers in the time of the gaps. Whatever they don't know, they think time will reveal.

@@bonnie43uk Science is not trying to answer any questions, scientists are. And if their search begins with there is no God, and the truth is there is a God, they will never get an answer. Nobody was there at creation, except God. You say that we are believing in the God of the gaps, this is true, He is the God of all we do not know, and He is also the God of all we do know. Atheists however hold to the time of the gaps, and believe that time will answer all their questions. This takes alot of faith without evidence.

His argument is literally "I don't understand sociology, or evolutionary biology, and I'm a sociopath. Justify doing something I don't understand or you must concede that my imaginary friend is the answer to every question." It's malformed, and very ignorant.

I had a friend ask me a question i didn't know the answer to. Couldn't God just create us to never sin so we don't have to go through the process of salvation according to the bible?
