I was in Pismo beach doing a wall repair and the stucco was a heavy sand texture with a Spanish drag. This was a difficult wall because the word Hearing Aid Center was there and they stucco around the letters....Yes scratch, Brown and stucco. almost an inch of stucco to fill in. We managed to fill the letters smooth but for the life of me I could not match that Spanish drag. It was heavy stucco I forget the size and super finely drag. Luckily after several tries. A amazing stucco guy from that area stopped by....Luis Sanchez stucco. He said....What are you doing to my wall. This was in 2010....I asked him How much to color coat and finish this and blend it in. on 3 walls. He said things are really slow I will do it for less than $200....I said That is too cheap how about $750. He was floored. I said nobody works on my jobs and does not make any money......He did a perfect job, even the color matched. only took him a few hours max he said.

Kirk I have been pretty successful at repairing and blending EFIS...Lots of it up there near you. I patch holes for SIgn Companies. Match colors and paint walls. Cant always get it perfect but if I am the first one to touch it I can even make it look unnoticeable to most people.

I want to stucco over a old brick wall. 17 gauge wire and should i use tapcons or roofing nails hammered into the grout or what? curious The brick wall has been painted too.
@StuccoPlastering4 ай бұрын
@@wheellifecycling I’d recommend, pressure washing the painted surface with at least 3,500 psi to remove all dust or even loose paint, then apply a bonding agent to the wall, now apply stucco. Stucco netting is not required.
@wheellifecycling4 ай бұрын
@@StuccoPlastering Very interesting. So base, scratch and finish or just base/scratch and then finish? Thank you for the response too.

So here is the thing. I am working for a guy who was a platerer for 40 years i guess and i think i don't like his approach. The wall is from the 1900's the back of the house. It is a 24 wide and goes up 25 ft to peak. The wall has been painted. My boss has taken the 17 guage wire and we used roofing nails and staples to the grout lines to secure. I dont like it. I like doing things the best way.

@@wheellifecycling Yea I would not trust those roofing nails. I got called out on inspection for using them. Had to buy a Lathing stapler. If those nails are in the stucco....Yikes. I agree with Kirk. pull that off of there bonding agent and go over it. I am not a stucco guy but I repair a LOT of it. and have built a few room additions, had a guy working for me that did several jobs where we put up stucco lathe and such.
