Howdy Mercado, FYI, When anyone starts to apply cement plaster at first, there are muscles in your forearm, wrist and deltoid and shoulders that you more than likely didn’t know existed. These muscles are rarely used in everyday living. Thus they will feel like they are on fire or swell up when you start to apply plaster, no worries, this is an excellent sign of unused and still weak muscles, not hurt muscles. then when that beautiful pain is gone, begin again. Your wrist, forearms or shoulders will burn, but that's o.k. For the average person, it takes a week or two to get those unused muscles strong enough to move mud where you want it. FYI, if you fall off a bike and hurt your leg, that's a bad pain or soreness, to strengthen muscles you didn’t know you had, creates a beautiful soreness. After watching a ton of your videos, I got courage - this weekend I did a window this size and same size hole to patch. Being a noob, I applied two layers of rapid set, working around the window, until the new work matched the same plane as the existing, which allowed me to compensate for my lack of skill. Then I did the finish color coat yesterday. Basically what you did in 15 minutes took me two days. So yeah, I'm a little awesome (as long as I don't get any cracks). Especially since I know what the sponge float is for, thank you sir. Though my eyes were irritated from I think the rapid set. Does it cause eyes to burn? Maybe it's just me. Oh, my main point was: amazing color match job! Really remarkable, the color is right on the money.

Can Quikrete Liquid Cement Color be added to the Rapid Set Stucco Patch? Are there other products that can be added to the Rapid Set Stucco Patch for coloring? I've been searching for the answers to this, but haven't been able to find the answer. I figured if anybody would know, it has to be you! Thanks for the wealth of information you provide!
@StuccoPlastering Жыл бұрын
You can add a lot of colors, but no doubt won't get the desired color as Rapid Set is tan. You can purchase Lehighs white cement or any other brand of white cement, but if the sand is added, it becomes tan, as the sand is usually brown, thus when mixed with any color you choose. this must be considered. I bought white cement and white sand, then added color for the basecoat which was never to be painted a few years back in the town of Sonora on two homes. This takes practice and material knowledge. But sure it can be done. My son Jason did this in a short video two weeks ago to get a blueish basecoat, then did a light blue finish on the same day. 👨🏫 He, too, is an SME subject matter expert. Cheers. 👨🏻🔬

@@StuccoPlastering Thank you very much I know from experience dashing texture on there over a smooth painted cement it will fall right off also does that bondex acrylic fortifier they sell at home depot does that work like the larsen's or is it considered just a fortifying agent
@StuccoPlastering5 жыл бұрын
Good evening Johhny, acrylic fortifying agents are not bonding agents. Home Depot sells Quikrete bonding agent it adheres concrete to concrete up to one inch thick is a good substitute, maybe even stronger as Quikrete wrote the book on concrete and cement plastering and their products. I prefer Weldcrete by lawsons as it has a solid reputation for so many years, but it is sold at only the plastering yards, I also like Weldcrete as it's blue in color, this is a big help, as you can see if an area was missed. @StuccoPlastering5 жыл бұрын
Good evening Gareth dude, sorry for the late response but when these questions come in is out of my hands. After pressure washing when the blocks are dried is when you paint on the bonding agent. If your blocks walls were never painted no bonding agent would have been necessary as the stucco would adhere with what we call a natural mechanical bond. This happens when you hit the existing block walls with water then apply stucco, the two adhere by suction as they are both cementitious. Will the color streak when using a wet float?
@StuccoPlastering6 жыл бұрын
Howdy Chris Dude, excellent question, Depends. when applying all dark colors weather acrylic or cementitious, the darker the color the more varied color's will become visible. Why? Another excellent question, glad you asked. Say, for example, you pour Clorox on blue jeans it's a similar situation. If the colors start to cure or harden, water becomes necessary to bring out the sand, thus the variation of colors can happen, especially when doing patchwork, that means a color patch within a complete wall. This is more likely with crappy acrylics than others. It's best to keep your sponge float as dry as possible through the entire process, however, when re-coloring patches within a finished wall, it's a whole new ballgame. When the tie in perimeters become dry, a plasterer has no choice but to dip the sponge float into the water to bring it back to life to blend in, welcome to possible streaking. Howdy Noblsht, I agree, however, if it's dry, cool beans if it's not when we leave, bummer. Standing around watching paint dry for possible two more hours is not financially wise for me, so we usually show current results right before we depart. FYI, This color matching did come out much better than I thought it would. Live long and plaster, Sharing stucco secrets and or common sense tips

Howdy Proof Dude, man I don't get into politics or religion as it's always a no-win decision, half either agree or disagree. The fight ain't worth the battle as my thoughts are just words in the wind. I will say this, I as in this repair I will be judged, not by this video presence but by my actual "repair." The man has a ways to go, so the juries still out. I will also say this, he's one dude I wouldn't want to piss off. Live long and plaster Jason and I will teach you, “how to render a wall.”
