Geno is a very solid bridge QB, but there needs to be something on the other side of the bridge to build and look forward to! That's the problem with being around 9-8 every season. You only sometimes make the playoffs, and if you do you're one and done because you can't compete with the best teams in the NFC, but you also don't get any top 5-10 draft picks that could be used to get your young franchise QB! I'm not advocating for tanking, but I also acknowledge that a lot of teams have to really suck for a couple years to get those high draft picks that turn into your blue chip players you can build around, including your franchise QB!

But but draft picks don't work out all the time. It better to be mediocre than take a chance at getting a franchise qb. Plus you have to have a top 5 o line to protect your qb first. This is what some people actually think. Meanwhile the redskins went from worst to winning a playoff game with a top qb

My mock draft would have Seattle going o-line round 1 and 2. Also adding a solid free agent, so potentially 3 new starters are found. I would take Tyler Booker in round 1. Potentially Seahawks can even trade down and pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd round pick and still get Booker around pick 25. Then in round two, I would take Tate Ratledge. Booker and Ratledge are both potential pro bowlers who make an immediate impact and could start immediately. Then in round 3 or late round 2 if the additional pick is added from trading down, I would like Seattle to take either Jalen Royals or Tez Johnson as a replacement for Tyler Lockett. Next priority might be tight end or finding a developmental quarterback in round 3 or 4. For tight end I like Mason Taylor and for quarterback I am liking Will Howard or Jaxson Dart. Round 5, I think Seattle adds an outside linebacker like David Bailey so they can let Nwosu or Jones walk and save 9 mil. Rounds 6 and 7, you look for best player available. Rod Moore could be a safety so they can let Rayshawn Jenkins go and save 6 mil. Carson Vinson is a solid right tackle and should immediately be an improvement over Forsythe for additional o-line depth.

Ruby Staton is incredibly credible draft authority when it comes to QB evaluation. Big follower of his work for years. I wonder if he thinks theres a QB in this draft the Hawks could draft who is as good as Will Levis was. He rated Levis as the best QB two years ago. If not, should we try to trade for Will Levis? That would get us a franchise QB and stop us from being stuck in average.

Don’t give me this “the Seahawks never had a chance to draft a qb” crap. What pick did the panthers have after the 2022 season? #9. Yet the somehow ended up with pick 1. Because they made an aggressive trade. Seattle had 5, 20, 37, and 53. There was a once in a lifetime circumstance where the team with pick #1 wanted to trade it! And you had 2 firsts and 2 seconds! The Seahawks damn well had the golden opportunity to trade all 4 picks to the bears (which they would’ve accepted) and draft stroud or young. Maybe that would’ve been a stupid trade, but it was available. So don’t give me that “no opportunity to draft a qb” crap. We’ll never have 5, 20, 37, and 53 again. That was our shot and we wimped out. Luckily we hit on all 4 picks (spoon, JSN, hall, charbonet). We could’ve drafted a top QB. We decided not to. That is the truth!

And on top of that John hasn't even taken a flyer on a late round QB yet. Both Joe Milton and Spencer Rattler were easily available in the later rounds of last year's draft, and if they turn out to be complete busts that's OK because they were late round picks anyway. At least then it's clear that the Seahawks are at least trying to find their franchise QB! We keep kicking the can further down the road year after year and it's getting close to where they _have_ to figure something out!
