interesting video and coment from David... and seeing as you are going on a course David on the customer experience, I'd just like to add that I think that BA have some way to go match the level of service we receive on some of the other world class airlines such as Cathay, Singapore, Lufthansa, Qatar, Emirates... I'm talking about longer flights to Middle and Far East (business and economy) which I do frequently.. the little things that make the flight more enjoyable for me are the attention and attitude of the crew, the quality of food, the IFE (so many time's I've had a dodgy screen and poor audio).. I have to say my biggest complaint is other passengers to be honest, who take off their shoes and socks, have smelly feet or BO, who recline their seats (in economy) while I'm eating my meal and I have to look at the top of their head while they flick their long hair into my food.. I never recline my seat out of respect for the people behind me, and I expect the same from those in front, and whenever I've complained to the people themselves or the crew, again my complaints are ignored. On one occassion the female passenger in front of me spat at me and her male friend physically threatened me.. I'm a passive guy, non aggressive.. all I want to do is relax quietly, enjoy the flight, and get to my destination without any stress.. flying these days has become too stressful for me, unless I I travel business, but considering the cost I can only do that 3 or 4 times a year, the rest of the time I have to go economy

I've only been on short haul BA flights (six of them in the last year). On these, there is very little difference between BA and easyJet except that BA is much more expensive! As Noel says in the video, BA cabin crew are always very good- but in my experience so are easyJet's. How about bringing back some free food on BA short haul economy class to enhance the experience? Perhaps you could point this out on your course which I hope goes well.

Jonathan P if my seat reclines I will recline it, its a feature Im paying for and if I dont recline my back hurts in long flights, of course i will let you know first and wont do it when you are eating but dont expect me not to recline my seat.

From my experiences with BA on long haul flights from LHR to JFK the staff have been fantastic. I cant say the same for the short haul flights within Europe. I always am flying at the front of the plane as I am 200cm tall, but BA wont allow me to book row 1 seats as my status isnt high enough and my legs dont fit in the other business class seats. The lack of interest from the staff as to my difficulties was a marked difference to what i have experienced on long haul flights and the lack of interest from customer relations has also been noticeable. It is a shame because I did enjoy the service, and always enjoyed the tea service on the flights to JFK. Shame I have to fly a different airline within Europe, but try to maintain the old standards of service and dont let this new breed become the norm.

Loved they did everything to reunite your bag to you. Times like these you should ask to make an official compliment to the airline and they usually have pamphlets to fill out and hand in later. Most airlines have online surveys after you fly that most people complain about seat width and bland meals. This honestly makes a big impact on customer service and feedback to local airport teams. This coming from someone that works at an international airline.

Checking in here a bit late, but I’ve also had outstanding experiences where BA has reunited me with lost property promptly and reassuringly. The most notable was once when I left my passport onboard a First Class flight in, which I only noticed as I went through flight connections. I was almost certainly visibly panicking and the ground staff calmed me down, did everything to assure that they were communicating to locate my passport, escorted me into the lounge to wait, and I’ll never forget the moment an enthusiastic young ground staff bounded into the Concorde Room with my passport, ready to explain that my passport had really fallen way down into the space next to the seat, and even after they saw it, it took a long time to get it out. Another time I realised I’d left my iPad on a short haul service from Nice. What I hadn’t realised even just yet is that I had left my wallet with it. As I’m standing in the baggage hall to enquire about the iPad, the crew find me, one of them saying, “yes, that looks like the gentleman” (referring to the pic on my ID card in my wallet). So they solved a problem I didn’t even know about yet (my missing wallet) and then proceeded to locate my iPad and have it brought to me. Lest it seem like I am very forgetful, I was flying with BA enough to be Gold for ten years in a row in those days, so there were a lot of flights. They were always excellent, but it’s the exceptional moments like leaving something onboard that show me just how good they are.

I left my favourite shirt (button up that I wear over top of my t-shirt) on my seat flying from Frankfurt to Toronto and Mentioned it to an Air Canada employee not thinking I’d ever see it again. After my flight was loaded (Toronto to Edmonton) a flight attendant handed me my shirt which a ground crew worker drove to the plane across the tarmac. Best service ever! Thanks Air Canada !

A few years ago my daughter flew with BA to Sweden on business, and whilst there had an unexpected health problem and was left barely able to walk. She was due to fly home the following day, and had planned to spend that night at a hotel at the airport, but by then was really struggling. She decided to contact BA. They were wonderfully helpful. They got her on a flight that evening, took her to the plane in a wheelchair, upgraded her to first class, fed her, and at Heathrow took her in a wheelchair to where her husband was waiting. The service was absolutely outstanding, and she was so pleased that she had paid the extra to go with BA rather than a budget airline. The staff were all wonderful and we all remain very grateful to them.

Spot on, Noel! Spot on! People tend to forget that most "KZbinrs" are on a mission to evaluate premium cabins by trying to point their fingers at as many things as possible during a video (seats & lounges) and rarely evaluate or experience the total package you get - IF and when you should have the need for it. As a business (class) traveller, I want to get to my destination and back again, comfortably, and should there be any form of "hickups" along the way, I want to be seamlessly taken care of! I find BA a world class airline, all things added up. My favourite - the crew! I have done several long hauls in ´19 (DXB, MIA, LAX, SFO) and in each and every one of them (unforeseen events included), the crews have been absolutely brilliant!

I had a great experience with BA. I was flying PanAM from SanFrancisco to Frankfurt. We where in the air for 4 hours when the Captain announced Oil Pressure/ Engine failure. We returned back to SanFranciso. British Airways absorbed all the Passengers. We where treated like Gold. I won’t ever forget that.

I am a real fan of BA and they have taken a real pasting over the years but I think they have really bounced back. The crew on my last flight in November to Miami were absolutely amazing, they couldn’t do enough for their passengers. On the flip side I returned with American ...bloody disaster to say the least! Same exact thing happened to me on Singapore in Frankfurt. Was flying from JFK to FRA on the A380. The flight attendant asked if the kids would like a tour of the plane when we landed and I completely forgot my case with the GPS, all the electronics, chargers, etc. The plane had already been pulled off the gate but they were awesome and got it to me within 45 min. Stress!!!

The walkway's much better than the shuttle. The B gate lounge is also useful if Galleries First is rammed. I, too, have needed help from the BA ground staff at T5 and they were similarly wonderful (although someone had stolen what I'd left behind). I tend to make mistakes like these if I don't stick to my routine. That safety briefing gives me nightmares. It's completely OTT. I'm glad that your bag was found and that you had a good flight.

i left a suitcase at a convenience store at a train station in eastern europe once. got all the way to the platform with the train due in a few minutes, it arrived early, i boarded. suddenly thought hang on, this is too easy.... pegged it downstairs to the concourse, into the store, the staff had held the case thankfully, grabbed it, ran back upstairs and made the train (the only train of the day) by a minute. so i feel that pain!

Really enjoying all your videos Noel. BA for me is sorta like an old Ex who you always come back to when you go through a bad breakup! Every time I fly with them I’m like ‘I should really fly with someone else’! So I do - and while they may be younger, sexier and better in the lie-flat bed - when you get a great BA crew, nothing beats it because it feels so sincere because they have to try a lot harder with aging equipment, cost cutting management and waining reputation. Flying in ‘the Queens Nose’ with my 5 month baby girl on NYE. Wanted that to be her very first long haul experience! 744 - Oldest plane in their fleet and couldn’t be more excited - praying to the sky gods for a great crew!!!

I love Terminal 5. I haven’t flown from/to there many times as my local airport was Gatwick, though where I live now in Italy, BA only fly to Heathrow T5 😃. I’ve only ever flown the short haul aircraft (737-400 before they went, A319, A320, A321) but i’m sure it’s an amazing experience to fly long haul. Also this video helped me out, I didn’t know you could go to B building and go back to A building. Last time I was at heathrow our plane departed from A, though we had a lot of time we thought about exploring the other blocks, but we weren’t sure we could get back 😂 Thanks for the information. I’ve only ever landed at B (or C can’t really remember) building this summer when heathrow had some problems and there weren’t any free stands and spent 2hrs + on the ground before going to the stand! It did mean we could see the other areas but only arrivals and it’s not as exciting. Thanks for the great video!

One selling point for passenger experience for a380 and 747-8 is storage bins for window seats on the upper deck. Those bin spaces could be used as a small work surface when closed especially if you have a MacBook Air 11 inch or a mini pc laptop aka net book

1:03 How can you get back to the A pier from the B lounge via the walkway? The walkway is on the arrivals section of the airport (Heathrow T5 separates departure and arrivals areas), so I don't see how you can even access the walkway from the B pier and even if you could, the walkway will spill you back into the transit area, where you would have to go through security again to get to the A pier. Have I missed something?

There's two walkways, one for arrivals and one for departures. The departures one returns you to T5A departures.

Ba club world is always badly criticised by flight reviews so it’s so nice to see a positive review, I go on it every year on club world and have never had a bad experience. Also I don’t think it is worth going in first as you have to pay a lot more air miles or money, yes the hard product is a lot better but from my experience the service and soft product is the same

Plane Sense I’ve only been in business class once for LHR-MAD on the 777 (only time I could afford it). Been on premium economy 3 times across Atlantic and only annoying time was being in the 777 with the old IFE screen but I know they’re getting replaced

Agree that the service is generally very good but those Club seats really are claustrophobic and that menu never seems to change!

Not quite the case that the A380 never goes from the A gates. Sometimes they may board it from a remote stand, which boards from gate A10.

All A380 flights go from the C gates because they were specifically built with the triple jetway gates for the A380
