@miinyoo 2 ай бұрын
There is one objection I have to this maxim. Ask questions. No need to make statements. The questions you ask and the answers you receive will be all the evidence you need to make a mental statement which need not be spoke aloud but dwelled upon and thoroughly considered. In the Socratic way, you don't need to state anything. It will be stated for you, if, you ask the right questions.

peterson is a liar. he DOES claim the hierarchies of capitalism are natural and are based on competence, and he DOES defend those hierarchies by saying they are useful and by promoting capitalism. but his theory on hierarchy is demonstrably WRONG. every natural hierarchy of competence is a bell curve, with few at the top and bottom and the majority in the MIDDLE. capitalism is a PYRAMID /\ hierarchy, pyramid hierarchies are artificial and integral to capitalism/profit, there has to be a very large base in a capitalist hierarchy in order for profit to be generated, profit is not possible in a natural bell curve hierarchy. capitalism is UNNATURAL and abusive because of that fact.

11:00 I disagree, he clearly just rambles on and, Trace confuse questioning, painting a narrative, so he can ultimately back to the person that he’s asking questions to into a corner with the painted picture, which is why Jordan has stopped him multiple times, the kid is not interested in an open dialogue, it’s just looking for a gotcha.

@miinyoo

University is a well hole of bizarre ideas. Some of them very productive. Many others counterproductive. Students now-a-days have it hard because the urge to manipulate is greater than the charge to inform. I think it's a racket run by racketeers. I went to college and saw how inept everyone involved was. Some good advice here and there but mostly platitudes to keep themselves employed which had no real function to help me get where I wanted to go. What I did half way through instead is get a job doing what I wanted to do. That process taught me everything I needed to know and then some.

The student didn't ask a question. He made a statement. All aimed at discrediting Peterson. He talked at such speed you barely had time to grasp one point before he raced on with the next and the next. It was like he was being paid per word or was in a talking speed race. I bet 80% of the people present did what I did. Switched off and waited for Peterson to make sense of the garble for us.

I thought Jordan made himself clear _MULTIPLE, _*_MULTIPLE_* times: he's opposed to *compelled speech.* The end. This student is trying to make the case that Jordan is only opposed to "compelled-speech"... _that Jordan is opposed to._ And by extension, that Jordan _WOULDN'T_ be opposed to compelled-speech which Jordan agrees with. And the evidence for this is that Jordan doesn't denounce EVERY. SINGLE. THING. That should reasonably be denounced. Ok, well that's just BS internet "logic"... the same logic espoused in a Tweet that I saw the other day, "I said that I like waffles... and people on the internet be like, "sO yOu *hAtE* pAncAkEs?!?!" In that student's diatribe, he never once condemned Hitler... _ipso-facto,_ that student *supports* Hitler. _See how stupid that is?_

This exact scenario is playing out in "Gamer Gate 2: The Woke Redux". Watching it in real time has been utterly hilarious. I applaud the kid for making his case, however misguided, but it takes courage to go toe to toe with Peterson. It's a learning lesson and if I were in that position my biggest takeaway would be that my picture of the world isn't nuanced enough. Great video, great commentary. Really well put together in a tight little package.
