Towards the end of this video, I was thinking to myself, "Oh no! That selection is going to be affected by the effects on the track. That will drown out that special effect. Maybe it could be done on a separate track." Then, Tim addressed that issue and said the exact same thing! I was so happy that what I was thinking, actually is something that could be done, and so I am on the right track in my learning! :-) Thank you once again, Tim Talks Audio!!

This is nice. But is S1 smart enough, that if you add a temporal effect (say a delay or reverb), it will also render the tail that extends outisde of the event? That would be very useful especially with S1's ability to play overlaping events simultaneously.

Hey tim, do you know maybe why everytime I use a reverse reverb on vocals, it works perfectly. But it changes the entire sound of the instruments/2track beats? It muffles them, and I have no idea why. If I mute the beat chain that has FX's on like, eqs, etc. It goes back to normal.

Oh wow. I think I just ask you this question on a different video? So I'm tracking a small drum kit. If I were doing a song (think Every Little thing She Does is Magic, at the end), and wanted my drums to have the delay Copland used, I would just go to the point of the song I wanted the effects to start, I could just have the effects start where I mark it? Yes, I'm a complete newb with no audio, let alone DAW experience. Thank
@TimTalksAudio3 жыл бұрын
For something like that, I would use a send to a Delay. Event FX in my opinion, are for when you want to imprint an effect onto the file itself or for little spots here and there. If you want to effect a whole instrument, you can send a copy of that instrument to a delay or which ever effect you want!

When I press ALT (for pc) all I get is a circle with a slash in the middle. Do you have any idea what may be preventing me from adding effects to specific channels?
@TimTalksAudio4 жыл бұрын
Are you trying to do this to a midi event or to an audio event? You can also try selecting your event and putting the effect in the inspector pane on the left. If you are applying some event FX, you should see an orange "Render" button that will allow you to commit the changes.
@rubberplant63752 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it only seems to work on the first event. When trying to apply FX to subsequent Events to doesn't seem to work.
@TimTalksAudio2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Event FX are “assigned” to specific events. If you were looking to apply the fx to the whole track you could try a few options. First would be to bounce the track, combining all of the events into one audio file or event. Second, you could insert the effect on the channel and everything that’s on that track would be effected. Third, depending on the effect in question and what you’re going for, you could create an fx channel or bus and use a send from your channel to the fx channel/bus with the effect plugin there.

WOW! And I was making seperate channel for stuff like that.

Have you ever noticed when you use event effects on a sliced up clip and render it, the other tracks stop playing? Happens to me all the time! Super annoying! I have to close out of ST1 and restart it to work. Any ideas why this is happening? i have tried adjusting just about everything to stop this from happening. Nothing works.
@TimTalksAudio8 күн бұрын
That's new to me. First i'd check if there's any updates available for your DAW/machine. Then try to recreate the effect (event effect) with a different plugin to see if there's a possible problem with the plugin (or compatability of the plugin and event fx)

@TimTalksAudio4 жыл бұрын
It will only print an event with the plugins on the "render chain" and will not print the effects on the mixer channel to the event, although the channel plugins will still be effected by the event with the newly rendered event FX.
@ordreancien4 жыл бұрын
@@TimTalksAudio Thanks. So what can i do to only get the effect i added on the event and not the "main" one applied to the whole track ? let's say, on the whole track i have a reverb plugin and on a particular section i just want distorsion but without the reverb effect, how i do that ?
@TimTalksAudio4 жыл бұрын
At that point, I would make a new track and cut the event out and move it to the new track. Copy all of your other settings to the new track, and just delete the reverb plugin.

Yes it does, and if you are still in a "pre-rendered" state, you can see the event fx chain in the inspector. With the inspector open, select the event, and just like in the video, you'll see the event fx section should have a orange or yellow button that says render, and a arrow that allows you to expand the fx chain. If you have already rendered the event fx, you can always "Restore" the event to it's pre-rendered state and see the fx chain that way. I hope this helps!
