It is a great pedal. I have owned the Ditto, the Ditto Stereo, and now I have had the Ditto + for a few month. I used it a lot and do enjoy it very much. I have downloaded from KZbin or Spotify and organised my tracks by style (rock, blues, jazz, bossa...) and kept space for my own working tracks. I am on Mac and things cannot be more easy as I see the folders in the finder, so delte, add, modify is easy. One thing I miss and I would have loved is the possibility to slow down or speed up the music. That would have been a great feature for people who consider the DItto + as a traning tool. Maybe a future microcode update (hey TC can you do it ?). I do recommend this pedal to all my guitar friends.
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks so much for the info. Are you finding that you have enough space to store multiple songs? I saw people saying they were only able to fit a couple of full-length backing tracks before running out of storage. I know the DittoX2 has the ability to slow down, so maybe if they come out with a DittoX2+, that might have everything we need! Fingers crossed!
@Yvero943 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor Yes you are right space is a concern. What I do is if I download a track which is for exemple a 12 bar blues, what I find is that the track repeat the 12 bars 3 or 4 time (same for a AABA song) so I cut the 12 first measures and only load them in the Ditto + say as Track 5. Then when I play them I can of course loop them as much as I want. Same for Bossa (for exemple Blue Bossa an easy one). I only keep 16 measure, load them and play them as long as I want. Hope this is clear. So in short Yes space is limited but you can find work around easily.

This is super interesting! Thanks for sharing your process! It would have been really cool for some expandable memory in it, but I guess we cant get everything lol!
@Yvero943 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor One cool thing is to have a lot of available tracks. Of course it is not possible to have 99 full tracks of 5 minutes of music each. But is it usefull ? To have many folders (files or songs or tracks whatever we name this) is the following at least for me. Say I want to work on a song. Take Blue Bossa an easy one. I want to work on rytm and melody (to make it perfect) and the to improvise over the entire song. I want to make my own rythm using my guitar. So folder one will contain first 4 measures C-7 / % /F-7 / %. second folder will contain measure 5 to 8 D-7b5 / G7b9 / C-7 / % third folder will contain measure 1 to 8 so ... C-7 / % /F-7 / % / D-7b5 / G7b9 / C-7 / % ... This alows me to work on a real song on sequences (motif ?) sorry I'm French not sure of the wording. I'm sure you get the idea. In short this does not take space, it helps develop your skills specially for improvisation.

Great review. I would use this in my teaching studio. I have had the original since shortly after it came out. I'm with you on the double-tap, but I don't do looping live, at least not yet. On the rare solo gigs I'll do straight solo guitar or iPad backing tracks. I like the idea of looping on the fly, but like you I would find a bigger display and more buttons if I really wanted to use it live.

I agree with your review - I have had the Ditto+ for some time now, and the one thing preventing me for using this looper in a live gig is the 'double tap to stop' the loop function. Such a shame, but impossible to operate with at double tab when perfoming (or rehearsing for a live performance). Tc Electronic should have made a dedicated stop buttom for the looper.

There are pedals with better sound quality, pedals with a stop button, pedals with built in drum kits, more memory etc, BUT. The extended mode is what sold this for me. I tend to use the looper to compose music mainly, so extended mode, to me, is VERY handy. I hope the other looper pedals get this kind of stuff in the future and even implement additional functionality such as this to make creating multilayered compositions even easier. Heck, if they need help thinking of stuff I'd love to give them ideas. To be really honest, it really struck me when I found out the new Boss looper didnt do anything like this... Innovation isnt just increasing the sound quality you know.. Come on Boss..

@@randyrektor here is a vid I did which covers a lot of the basics, yeah I use it on my iPad on a stand and drive with any number of midi controllers or the helix. For a 30$ app this thing will knock the absolute socks off most loopers. Seriously advanced routing and I’ve built a number of remote presets to drive it. It’ll allow you to save and recall tracks, quantize em, link to drum machines and backing tracks . It is pretty wild... By contrast though, this means having a phone or iPad on you. The ditto plus could never touch this thing, BUT it is simplicity itself and I’m often practicing with just a pair of WAZA airs. Ditto plus would be ideal for mono jams and composing and could still feed everything downstream with the raw guitar signal. Check it out. There are more advanced ones I made after this, but hopefully you get a good idea of the power lurking inside this app. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZS3ZINsn7dspNE

When did this come out? I literally bought the Looper V1 in August 2020. So annoying, this seems like a big upgrade. The screen seems like it helps timing for the layering, I've had more trouble with layering than just single loops, because you can only see when the loop starts with a flickering of the green light. I sometimes get fed up and just blast a backing track from KZbin that sounds like something I'm going for if I can't get the loop right. Overall, this looks wayyyyyy better than v1.

Hey man, this came out in the summer for preorder, but it didn't start shipping until late fall. It's pretty decent, but a lot of users have been reporting weird bugs with the looping and memory banks. I imagine some firmware updates will resolve everything. Either way, it's decent.

@@randyrektor Cool thanks for the info. Maybe its better to stick with the simplicity of version 1, at least until I get better at looping. I noticed my Ditto has something on the side that looks like a connection to update firmware, but it didn't come with a cable and I don't think its a micro-USB. Should I try to find something to upload the firmware? I just noticed that my other TC pedal, the original Flashback also has the same input jack. I guess its the cables that were around before the micro-USB cables? I remember connecting that Flashback to my computer at some point. @@randyrektor Yeah, I checked the firmware and it is the latest and greatest. The pamphlet that came with the pedal noted to go to the website to see the full manual, but apparently, it is in stealth mode. Only Sweetwater sells this brand now. Best of luck to TC. Appears TC is exhibiting the death rattle of business. Hope they see past a year.

Yea I noticed that it wasn’t showing up on Amazon or nearly anywhere else. I wonder if it has to do with supply chain issues. Sad to see!

@@randyrektor Possibly. But I'm curious as to why only sell through Sweetwater?

I'm disappointer with this pedal .I wanted it to replace an old jam man, but the memory inside is far too short. I can't put more than a few songs. But even after putting wav or mp3 in it, I can't find them when I plug the guitar.... They are in the ditto+, I see them on my computer, but they don't appear when I plug my guitar and scroll though the tracks....

Yea I hear that the space is much smaller than expected. I heard that updating the firmware helps a lot with file management

Thanks for the review. The one thing I wish they had packed in was a simple metronome, that would have been ideal. Also, pointless observation incoming, I believe technically Plethora would have been the first TC with those type of displays 🧐
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
Yea that would have made it much more useful as a practice tool! Also right you are! I should have been more specific about it being the first ditto pedal with one :) thanks for watching!

@@randyrektor I agree entirely that this definitely won’t be on much live rig boards for people who do anything beyond maybe one or two basic loops or want some easy access to a few prerecorded pieces...the lack real estate it takes up is definitely an advantage there. I’ll be interested to see if an x2 or x4 comes out. I did buy a + but workflow-wise for me it’s really a more advanced form of my wiretap, when inspiration hits or the happy accidents happen...the somewhat path of least resistance to turn that into a transferable .wav. Thanks again.

Yea, I'm with you. I think you're right that the best application for this pedal is to capture some quick ideas, but the additional features don't really matter too much. Especially with how buggy they seem to be.

I'm confused on how this thing is powered. What do I plug it into and why is it not included?
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
Yea it's kind of annoying that it doesn't come with one, but I guess that's how they keep the price down. You'll need a 1-Spot 9v power supply. I guess they assume most people have one of those daisychain power supplies.
@moipiano3 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor Thank you, makes some sense now. I'm just getting started on bass and this would be my first pedal.
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
If you think you might get more, you should check out 1-Spot. They make a 9v wall plug that has a variety of attachments for different pedals, and also includes a daisychain to link multiple. I think you can power around 8 pedals with one plug.

Obviously if you have more than 10-20 backing tracks/loops stored, you're going to create a spreadsheet or document to write Down which slot is which track so during a live show you can refer to that and quickly dial in exactly which you want , and rearrange then in setlist play order using your PC ahead of time. Simple, not rocket science.
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if you’re joking lol. That sounds terribly inconvenient. I don’t play many gigs where I can bust out a spreadsheet to recall my tracks. 🤦🏻♂️
