I've never been a big fan of the Space Invaders series, but videos like this give me more of an appreciation for its place in the history of the genre. I enjoyed your detailed look at this collection, and it definitely makes me glad I at least grabbed the vanilla version! SI Extreme does look like a ton of fun, though, so I'll have to fire that up.

A neat (hopefully less expensive) comprimise, though I'd definitely recommend Invincible over Forever.

I really wish these Taito collections were more complete than they are, each of them lacks something Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade doesn't have Darius Gaiden Extra, Console lacks Super Darius 1 and 2 and Cozmic Revelation really should have the original Dariusburst from PSP, or they could retool the mobile version to work on consoles oh well... Looking forward to the review of G-Darius HD, probably my favorite Darius

That's the only real reason these collections aren't "highly recommended" or a "must-play." I wish Akanvaders and Return of the Invaders were in here too. Extreme 2 as well, I suppose, but that would need a much more extensive overhaul/port

How significant is the input delay? Does Space Invaders Extreme have less delay on PC?

I don't remember any significant input delay, but PC will almost always be more responsive.

Honestly, this might just be worth it, for me, to get Space Invaders Extreme. It was one of my most wanted PSP games back in the day. Though, making a game in a compilation be a pre-order bonus specific to a certain retailer is super lame. >:V

Space Invaders Infinity Gene released in 2009. Superior to Extreme imo.

I would agree, except its biggest feature from the original Mobile version (using the player's music library as BGM/stage generation) would be difficult to replicate nowadays.

Anyone play Arkanoid VS Space Invaders?I want to ask,what's your favorite character in the game with the reason? Me : "Great Thing" As the player of Dariusburst CS,I'm interested with bosses & characters like Riga Practica,Iron Fossil,and Great Thing.And I like Great Thing because it's the strongest character,because of Cover Fire ability.

There isn't really a training mode per sé, but difficulty settings exist.

I really enjoy the pick and play nature of space invaders. But the compilations are always frustrating as they are missing so many games. Space Invaders Forever is hugely disappointing as it has Space Invaders Extreme and NOT Space Invaders Extreme 2. That stopped me buying that compilation. The invincible collection is much better and I would have bought it even though expensive for the ultra edition but there are too many notable missing games. I will just have to wait for the next compilation and hope that their next compilation is more complete.

Maybe we'll see another collection like we are with Darius. One with the major titles we missed this time. A new port of Extreme 2 would be awesome... but it might need to be changed too much where it was DS only (the first was launched on PSP as well, likely allowing for a way smoother port.)
