But, according to Harvard Psychologist and author Dan Gilbert, research in psychology and economics shows that people routinely mispredict how they will feel when they do and don't get what they are seeking, overestimating both the pleasures of success and the pains of failure. It’s the anticipation & the journey that is enjoyable. Once we achieve an accomplishment, over time it’s value has been decreased. Humans have a never-ending need to create, expand & most importantly, enjoy the ‘authenticity’ of new challenges or situations. Our imaginations have been conditioned to need constant ‘renewal’ towards our next imaginative future experience due to it’s initial, original & new perspective ~ until it becomes ‘common’. There are too many choices to contemplate. We are spoiled humans. We need constant stimulation! ~ even when it’s been manipulated! I don’t think we will ever be happy in this 3D ambiguity of judgement & comparison unless we become grateful & forgiving through unconditional love for ourselves & others. People were happier when life was simply accepted through the grace of God.

Just proves that bad choices can have long term consequences. Eg: having child with inadequate man for Fear of being alone VS working on self-love and integrity until you’re good enough for the right man to ENTRUST with protecting your future generations. Kids miss out on their perfect father and degrade the chances of success of the bloodline becuse their mom won’t wait for the perfect guy or be to messed up to attract him anyway. Choices = consequences. Make better choices and you’ll be happier.

I enjoyed the video 21:34... 34:22... Don't trade adding a mile on your commute for another square foot in your home.. 45:40... Remember episodes in life that have an amazing moment... 50:00... Nature doesn't care if you're happy... You have to outmaneuver your brain, which says survive and reproduce....(survival and longevity are primitive values, do away with reproduction and longevity, in fact do away with survival)

Another mistake: people know very well that they will have all this mundane issues in California AND in the place they are living now. BUT California has a PLUS: wonderful climate and landscape! That's why they choose California.

There's something called hedonic adaptation meaning over time, you adjust to a new baseline of living and things like better climate become irrelevant.

Wait a minute! If you ask people in California if they are happy living there and they affirm it - then there is no science in the world proving them wrong! This is absurd. Happiness is a mental state. You cannot convince people that they are unhappy if they feel that they are.

He means if you were to assess the well being of Californians vs other via self-reported psychometric tests, they're equal but if you ask them if they think they're happier, they'll say yes.
