Stung by a Hornet! - Trying out the Ruger K77/22-VHZ

The first time out with a Ruger K77/22-VHZ that I purchased recently...and a bit of a video response to Ozark Spirit!
In the comments of a recent video "Opening the Primer Gate", Marvin from the Ozark Spirit KZbin Channel asked if I shoot .22 Hornet. At the time, I didn't...that has changed!

Nice rifle , the Hornet is one I've never tried .

This is my first experience with it as well. I have a .22LR in the same configuration that I use for indoor 3 position sport rifle - they look very similar.

I've always wanted a 22 Hornet. Not sure why. I may actually get one next year, but I'm hankering for a classic one. This Ruger is very nice though.

There are some interesting rifles chambered in 22 Hornet - everything from miniature Sharps clones to bolt actions like this Ruger and the CZ 527. Thanks for watching!

@@WilliamCChapin I think if I went for a new rifle it would probably be a CZ. I'm a sucker for their products anyway. Speaking of interesting calibers, I'm currently forming 6.5x53R Dutch from 303 British brass.

Does the rifle say vhz anywhere on it? I’m trying to figure out if mine is and was told it should say it somewhere on the barrel or action. Thanks!!

I don’t think I’ve seen a Ruger marked in that manner.

@@WilliamCChapin one guy said that the all weather was the vhz. Another said that only some were. Said the vhz all weather had a heavier barrel with 1:14 twist and the standard all weather was 1:16 twist. Very limited information online in this regard. Thanks for the reply!!
