Alireza's speculative sacrifice feels like a Titled Tuesday match. Especially with epic speeding up his coverage.

Round two’s bloodbath at the Candidates was like the baptism sequence in The Godfather. A lot of family business was settled yesterday.

He just plays fast, soon all these new comers that found chess in 2020 will see him exposed, he’s not that good againt the highest caliber of players. Last year was his best chance and lost against “ding” 🤦‍♂️I think magnus was wrong, I don’t think he’s good enough. He won’t get any mistakes out these Indians, and nepo is a beast.

Thanks for your awesome recaps! They're always spot on. Hikaru really got outplayed this time. Vidit is proving himself to be among the best!

Vidit took away the initiative from Hikaru with a novelty move, but Hikaru playing with the white pieces should have been better prepared and force the game to go his way, now he was just reacting to his opponent's prep (which he also did in the first game)..

I"m thinking the opposite: all the games, including the women's, in a shorter format (which I would play at 2x speed anyway). Since I'm low expert in strength and don't need too much explanation. But it's hard to please everybody.

sorry. but noone cares about them. their games are mediocre compared to male chess players. (IM NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE) (they are just at the strength of some strong IM's. maybe even weak, average strength normal GM's. but they arent close to super gm title..

What if he doesn't? There is only so much time in a day. Games in Open category will be 2700-2800 level, more interesting than games in Women-only category at 2500-2600 level.

Whilst it's fantastic to see the game to know it's all computer prep, memorised, rather than played by the seat of the pants. It's... great chess... but it's not _romantic._

It is a lot of prep by the team using engines to explore unusual lines to get the opponent out of opening theory. Haven't we all explored dubious lines with the idea that they are not solid but if you know the line better you can disrupt your opponent?
