When I was really young (I was born in Dec of 1985), I thought their were only three Presidents, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, & George Bush Sr. (as he was the president at the time I believed this)! I had no idea about Reagan, Carter, Nixon, JFK, FDR, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, etc until later on when I learned about history! When you're that young, you have little concept of how old the world is, so it's easy to believe the US only had three presidents! I imagine it is really hard to teach really young kids about history especially cause a lot of it isn't kid friendly! That's probably why myths like Columbus discovering America (he never set foot in North America, just South America and some islands), Washington cutting down a cherry tree (which is out right mythology created by Parson Weems) or crossing the Delaware, or Paul Rivere shouting the British were coming (he wasn't the only rider, no one would say the British are coming as the Colonies were British & it was a covert operation)!
