I’ve been depressed for a while and makeup has been my only relief. However, I got completely floored by influenza about three weeks ago and it hit me so hard that I’m still not capable to do a 30 minute makeup. So 10 minute makeup when I absolutely need to leave the house it is. Anyway Kackie, please know that you’re not alone in feeling like this and that it will pass. This video is a godsend and a mirror and a nostalgia piece: I feel like I've been wading through jello this year. everything is a struggle, there's no energy or motivation to be had, I'm having to muster all of my strength to do the bare minimum at work (where I am one of 3 and at a leadership position, so if I screw up, I take them all with me) which has generated an absurd amount of additional anxiety. You know when you glimpse all of the things you might be doing, and how much better you could feel about yourself if you were not stuck, and it hurts. But on the plus side, this year I discovered Kackie's channel, which has been a great source of joy and understanding, I recovered my love for makeup and even if I feel like trapped in gelatin, at least I look good. So thank you! Also, as a Mexican that moved to Miami 8 years ago, I endorse everything said about Mexico. Huge, so many different landscapes and ecosystems, so many different cultures, and music and food. And I miss it and I miss my mom. And I better get ready for my 5pm meeting, so I'll stop here. But thank you. Everything blows. But this channel is good. This video is good.

But have you seen that episode of Planet Earth where they film the weird salty puddles at the bottom of the ocean that are instantly toxic to anything that passes through it but also the extreme salinity kills the passers by in such a brutal fashion and their bodies remain preserved as some sort of ghost dance way way way down in the bottom of the ocean?! Just interesting deep sea things I think about at least 3 times a day, and every time someone mentions interesting things, I want them to know that interesting thing too.

As someone who lives with bipolar & gets hit hard with seasonal depression (winter is hard) I have been forcing myself to do my makeup every single day. I slap on foundation (still using the basma!) Blush, mascara, liner, & something soft & sparkly on the eyes with a thick layer of lip balm. Usually the leniege lip sleeping mask in vanilla 🕺✨

I love the horse culture in the Netherlands, I lived in Ireland for 8 months when I was younger, and I’ve done archaeology in several places and done medical relief in Haiti…I think the problem of moving to a totally different place is daunting because there really are so many options…if I moved anywhere now, it would be for horses…but I am an adult and finally found a great pcp, so now I can’t leave!

I’m late watching this but I learned at my kid’s science fair last week that the moon used to look bigger because it was “10 times” closer to the Earth and I’m not sure that I understand exactly what that means mathematically but it blew my mind. I mean, the universe expanding is one thing but the moon getting farther from the earth is a much more concrete idea. The kid said that the moon wouldn’t escape Earth’s gravitational pull for another 15 million years though. Also her moon phase diagram was Oreos with the cream strategically scraped off so her project was my favorite. (Don’t tell my daughter.)

Kackie, If you have a very common autoimmune condition in the UK, you can't be tested for the antibodies, a simple cheap blood test. I'm talking about thyroid antibodies for Hashimotos. In Canada they only test TSH for thyroid issues, which fluctuates and is the very last number you want to dose thyroid hormone from. It's not even a thyroid hormone. Both of those countries have national health care, which sounds really good and compassionate, but which scares the * out of me as I have Hashimoto's. These perimeters lead to SO many women being woefully undertreated for thyroid hormone, which affects, literally, every aspect of your life as thyroid hormone is in every cell in your body. If you're diagnosed out of the country, you can get a prescription for one medication, a T4 only med, which is the storage hormone. The ACTIVE hormone, T3 is not offered under the NHS umbrella. Most doctors don't know how to treat it, as the science is about 20 years ahead of the practice of medicine. I travel to Chicago to see an expert. Under an NHS system, every doctor would dose by the same protocol, with limited meds. The treatment protocols are so tight in countries with NHS that women simply don't have options. Autoimmune conditions are rampant, and growing, among women. Over 90% of Hashimotos patients are women. Does this sound selfish of me? I just want choices, and to live.

Interesting…. Just the other day I was wondering am I really lazy or am I depressed? I am 58 years old. I’ve been working since I was 14. Always a go-getter always very ambitious, productive, proactive, blah blah blah. I was stopped in my tracks last year with the diagnosis of glioblastoma so I have been fighting brain cancer for over a year now. I’ve had to stop work and I’m now facing a financial crisis. Most days I just stay in bed watching TV because I’m not allowed to drive anymore and I don’t have the money to actually do anything entertaining or otherwise. I’m trying to figure out what to do with myself to get me out of this cycle. I used to love cooking but don’t even do that anymore.
