Personally I loved hearing the behind the scenes details Re: affiliate links! I think we all want you to be paid and treated fairly (gah that sponsorship nonsense) AND remembering that this is a job for people helps me not be overly influenced to buy more makeup than I need. Even if pomegranate fizz is CALLING to me… I haven’t been into blush palettes for years but given how much product is in these rms blushes I wish I could try several colors in smaller quantities.
@CT1010101 Жыл бұрын
Totally, I never used affiliate links until a small creator, Katie Louise, explained that's where she made almost all the money on her videos and I realized how important they were. I don't know why more creators don't explain this, bc otherwise I just think, why would I use the link when I can just google the product.

@@cosfreye the Suntegrity 5 in 1 lightest shade is the fairest tinted spf I’ve found and it def doesn’t pull pink. I’d say it isn’t olive but it is a desaturated neutral instead of a peachy neutral. It’s quite dewy so I wouldn’t recommend to oily skin but it’s been a staple for me for years (I just can’t use it alone without a bit of blush and concealer to get it to match my skin better. Ugh, Kackie I’m sorry yo hear that. As someone who works in video production, I know how frustrating it is when clients behave that way. Curious (since I don’t know a ton about creator sponsorship agreements) if asking for brands to add a kill fee into contracts is something you can negotiate as a creator? That way you aren’t left hanging if they pull things like this.
@kackie Жыл бұрын
I definitely stipulated that in my email response explaining my decision. The liaison was like "this has never happened before so we don't have that in our contracts!" I'm like yeahduh. I'm saying in the future, we're putting it in there.
@spontaneousun Жыл бұрын
Commenting and upvoting this because I used to work assisting with contracts (very different field), but knowing the right clauses to add can make ALL the difference. Interestingly, many clients wouldn’t blink twice at various financial protection clauses. You just had to know to include them, and oh boy could they make a difference to a small business.

Question for anyone: I am working on a makeup routine for when I have to do press for work, occasionally under studio lights, but mostly in the field, 50/50 indoor/outdoor. Based on what kackie has said about light & reflectiveness, I am thinking that a matte, neutral version of wedding makeup would be the best to not look horrible on tv? I am a bit underweight, mature skin, texture, etc- I don't look great on the TV news kind of video. I am not trying to be gorgeous, just not be a gorgon haha

I LOVE my ulta matte cream shadows but those Hindash ones look wayyyy more cooperative. I find that, for the ulta ones, if I mess with it too much, it can start looking very slightly patchy. it's not usually an issue because it's only noticeable if I look at it close up and I usually always end up putting Mac Omega in my crease (such a great cool-toned brown that isn't grey) anyway. one day I think I want to pick up thorn since the ulta ones don't come in dark brown.

It’s almost like the edits are a way for them to lead a creator into the exact reaction/review/response they want to portray.
