Sturgill doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's a GREAT songwriter. I'm a musician and have been learning his songs. I just learned "Turtles". It sounds like a country song but it's not the usual verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus. It's a LONG verse, then a LONG refrain and then a weird little outro tacked on the end. It's fucking genius.

Then I found Sturgill, Brent Cobb & Chris Stapleton and I'm back in business. The lesson here is that just as rock has it's alternative genre, so does country. @danielmorris36878 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the exact same thing. I read that post and couldn't even come up with a response to something so ridiculous. Hank Sr was probably the most prolific songwriter ever and the emotion he put into the plain yet still deep lyrics he wrote wont ever be matched. And all accomplished in a few short years before he died so young. Much respect to Sturgill because he is a talented musician but he aint no Hank Williams Sr. No one is.
