17:37 In Gold and below you get those kinds of things happening. 2-3 heroes attempting to take back a point, by launching their ults - and succeeding. The game sense in those ranks is so low, that the team taking the point cannot imagine the other team coming back with a bunch of ults ready. I've done some coaching for a friend who fairly recently started playing, and I've seen these things happening so many times, that it's more the standard than a deviation. Yes, if the enemy team comes back ults blazing, it can be tough to stop them if you don't have your own ults; but you can at least *prepare* for it. However, in those ranks, players just don't. If the defending team has ults to use, and don't trickle in one at a time, the attacking team loses the fight. Like 90% of the time, at least. There's no sharking around to interrupt the comeback or building up ult charge to stop the assault. There's just hanging around the point, doing nothing. It's as inevitable as the overly aggressive push to the enemy spawn if you hold the point on a Control map, which inevitably means you lose a fight and then the enemy takes control of the point and you lose the point 100% to 99%. Gold and below, has a lot of players who watch what streamers and pros do, but they don't understand what they're seeing. They just imitate and think that's all there is to it; then they get pissed off at their team when it doesn't work. The *_whole team_* gets pissed off at the team, because they *_all_* think they're better than the rest of the team. Thank god, my friend is out of those ranks now, into high Plat, and steaming on towards Diamond. Most of the coaching he needed, was how to deal with the frustration of low ranked play and losing SR due to bad teamwork, as well as increasing his own game sense.

Honestly the best advice to give someone to get better at playing a character is watching streamers. I was like 1400 with tank but I watched Emongg saw how he use to play Sigma and what he did. Literally just watching him i learned about getting off angles as Sigma and even after they nerfed Sigma I still managed to climb to 1900 from 1400 just by watching people beter than me play.

that's exactly the trouble of creating bad habits. The key always is: If what you're doing is good enough to work in your rank, then that just proves that you are in the right rank. If it actually stomps in your rank, you will naturally climb. So anything that's just "good enough" is never good enough to climb.

Easiest Hammond tech you can learn is just hold ctrl and back over a cliff. The piledrive will slam you back onto the ledge for easy, aim-free area damage, plus knock them straight up so they can't strafe from your followup shots. There were a few times through the video when I think it would have won you duels or at least earned you ult charge.

But how you improve is to stop doing things that "only work in a certain rank" cuz if you keep doing it in higher ranks. You won't climb. Period. So saying that It doesn't work in Gold & Plat, even if it does, is good advice cuz he is teaching him how climb higher and see improvements. Everyone has a natural cap where you either have to invest more time than you have available, or you are lacking the mental insight to improve on your shortcomings (aka you need a coach). But there is no such thing as "this is why I can't climb" except for your own plays.

I took a break from OW right around the time Hammond came out and I cannot for the life of me play that character. I'm a tank main and I'm ashamed that I cant seem to get value, I see a lot of players use him just to hold point last min and Id love to be able to do that hopefully these tips help.

It’s a super mobile and unique hero, just play him in quick play to learn him. I used to be one of those people in your exact situation but I learned him in quick play and he’s pretty fun. What I did to learn him was to see how I could hit the most people with my abilities, or how I could kill a single target like a support or sniper. Also seeing when and how to use my ult and what gets value (I still struggle with this). I now play ball in comp a pretty good amount, it’s a really fun hero to play. One thing that’s very important if you’re going to play him though is know when to switch, if they have reaper mei hog ana and you’re still on ball, somethings wrong with you.

Double boops are gone 3: You can still do the line of sight, like boop them left of a pillar and swing right around it and break line of sight. You will get a second boop and an extra 50 dog but its widely impractical...

First off, hammond is the one tank i cant get to make to work, so im interested in these hammond plays. Second, recently, myself as well, players have been experiencing the "game/map not loading bug". Sometimes its so severe you get dropped from a comp game with penalty, so I dont judge ppl lagging behind its just unlucky (minor work around: alt+tab and back into OW frequently, even if its windowed). I did a "check files" and it fixed it for a few months, then it came back. I did a reinstall but its an OW bug that happens from time to time, no matter what you do. Furthermore OW likes to fiddle with its own ingame settings, just a few days ago, new bug (besides the usual turning settings on and off randomly). Gfx card started overheating, with extreme FPS drops ofc; took me 2-3 hours to find a post suggesting just toggling the OW graphics settings back and forth and click apply... sounds silly right? Well it worked and took away 40°C off!!!! I toasted a gfx card playing OW before. I blamed it on the age, but this one is brand new; so I hope they fix their GPU api or whatever causes this issue.

At one hand people always say their teams are bad and they have throwers and their teammates are braindead - on the other hand they also always claim that their games are not nearly as bad as the ones we spectate.. My dudes, you gotta choose one or the other, not both. This is silver, there are reasons you're also silver. Deal with it :) Everything always looks way worse when you got the full overview at all times. Just rewatch your own games like this and you'll notice just how bad your games actually look when you're not in it in the moment havign to focus on playing the game.
