Nice work! I've never heard to original but your cover was incredibly fun to jam to! Your guitar tone reminded me a lot of later post-rock/shoegaze bands which I really love. Your dry drum tone is also quite incredible. It sorts of grounds the ethereal reverby nature of your guitar tone by having a very dry tone that's consistent. The mixing was phenomenal as well! Great work all in all! The only nitpick that I could even think of is that the kick drum's upper end where the beater lies is being buried by something. I'd either put very slight parallel compression on it or distortion. You could also do a mid-side eq and pull down down competing frequencies or push this frequency up a bit. Amazing work either way :D! Also, super happy to see Karnivool being repped. I've been a huge fan of theirs since Themata and no one, not even prog heads, seem to be onto just how amazing they are!

Hey Bud! Thanks so much for a really nice comment, always lovely to see you floating about! :D. Glad you said about the Shoegaze tone because I was really aiming for that when I was dialling it in. The band I've covered is mostly Shoegaze/post rock (To me anyways) so thanks for picking that up! The drums took a long time to get right to be honest, I used the TD-30KV drum brain to play them in, though it was tempting to add shit loads of reverb as I'm all about that Prog haha xD It's funny you say that! I had actually had some drive distortion on the kick but I couldn't get it to sit right - This was the best version of my skill unfortunately. I'll do a Mid-Side EQ next time as I hadn't thought of that, so thanks for pointing that out :) Dude, Karnivool are incredible, Goliath has been my favourite for years. Just the ending when they transition down a tone is monstrously proggy haha xD. Thanks for the feedback, hope you're well :)

@@KhydroDjent Shoegaze tones are amazing just because how versatile their placement in the mix can be due to their tapered low end. Your drums were actually very tight, no wonder they weren't automated :P. I can neither play well nor have a kit of my own so I just use SD3 which does wonders for me. I just have to avoid writing mechanical impossibilities and I'm good. it's fairly difficult to get it to sound "human". Getting a good swing feel is pretty frustrating. The mid-side EQ helps a ton because the kick or snare with distortion tends to eat away at your guitars in the 2.5-3.5k range and it's really annoying, lol. Hope you're doing well yourself, too! I'm shooting you an email about that collab so that hopefully we can work something out! :D

@@dansemacabre709 I'm thinking about writing a shoegaze album, I never start something unless I can give it my best - I've not been good enough to write in this style before but I've been practising! Sometimes I play through midi but for this wanted a more rustic sound :). Lol I can't write MIDI drums, I get too frustrated so I find just playing them forces me to make sure they're actually humanly possible haha. I just saw your email, it was in my junk folder ffs - nice one outlook. I'll reply to you ASAP! Hope you've had a lovely week mate :)

@@KhydroDjent No worries, take your time! I try not to worry about doing it "right". Just keep churning and eventually you'll hit gold :D! I only write MIDI because I can neither afford the noise pollution of a real kit nor the finances of an electronic one :P. If I could, I'd have definitely opted for one or the other! Hopefully, I'll get one sooner than later. Looking forward to your email! Hope you've been doing splendidly!
