There is actually a very funny documentary about an aussie submarine that used intentional noise to win a simulated fight against a US carrier fleet. There's awesome footage of the whole crew clanging pots and pans, jumping from the last rung of the ladder, banging stuff against the walls, etc. In the mess hall a soldier is interviewed about this and just points at the cook: "He loves it. He gets to be the noisy bastard, he is." They keep this up from the moment they arrive in the operations area until the exercise officially starts (quote from the captain: "The americans had no idea. They thought, they couldn't possibly lose those loud aussies.") and then drop dead silent and hug a coastal reef with super low running engine. They had to travese a specified strait, but they just waited. In the end they had the american fleet so worried about losing, that they started to use their active sonar to search for the sub, because they couldn't find it on passive. That ofcourse made it super easy to avoid the destroyer screen and just slip on by :) [Edit: Oh, almost forgot the best part - the moment they won, they started blasting "I come from a land down under" on *their* speakers, so the sonar operators would pick it up. Legends! :)]

I don’t remember having to march in sub school in ‘91. I remember having to run everywhere on the damn base. We got a schedule of classes and they had you running to each one. Had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled out before fire training and filled the EAB mask with blood. Instructor thought I was having an aneurysm or something when I pulled it off and it dumped on the ground. One of the hilliest I’d served on. I wanted to be stationed in SoCal or Hawaii and got stationed here at Groton. Seriously bummed when the following class orders were all west coast.

What is this cadence called? Or is there a name for this one? I fucking love it, holy crap.
@random38577 жыл бұрын
First, the cadence is mixed with marching instructions - keep that in mind. Second, cadences are usually very small so they are mixed with several and each branch of the U.S. forces alters the lyrics: I hear at least three cadences in here. Third, the first title is the first few words spoken in the video (take into account the first step). In other words: *Google the lyrics.*

I tried, but thank you for your response!

1. Here We Go Again (navy version). 2. How Did You Know!/Heard It on the Radio. 4. Unknown (maybe altered C-130), 5. Here We Go Again (navy version) repeats. 6. Oh, Soldier, Where Have You Been (navy version). - That's the best I can guess, many drill instructors with the talent themselves just sing their own cadences or completely revises a cadence.
