Good winter tires and straught out. There is a video of an Outback driving straight through 16" of snow, no rocking needed. And I know its not fake because I have done it myself many times.

Amen to that, those tires are the pits for winter driving. I can't imagine how they would act hitting slush or wet snow at even slow highway speeds. Then throw in leaning how to drive in heavy snow. Driver does little short back and forth procedures when if they lengthened the stroke a bit they could build some momentum and move on quicker.

I did snow removal at a Subaru dealer for years, in New England. Never once did we have to dig one out,ah,but the trades, non Subaru, they had to be dug out and pushed,amazing too watch and drive them out of huge snow, which covered the head lights! These Subaru's are unbelievable in the winter, I've been leasing them for years now and I doubt that I will leave them for another manufacture as their drive system is superior to others, save Audi their system works the same as Subaru.

@@achintyarudransh9495 a subaru will run forever aslong as you service everything like you should, mines just hit 100k miles and the engine internals look like theyve just come out the factory 👌 & bob audis isnt the same, similar but still inferior, my friend has a 2019 all road and he couldnt get up an ice cover uphill section even with a run up, my 2003 forester went up easily even when I had to tow him up the hill 🤣

I bought my 2011 Forester 2 years ago. It had 39,000 when I got it. It now has 116,000. A third of those miles are off-road. People just don't know! You gotta get em out in the woods to see the true potential of Subies. ESPECIALLY the Forester with it's short wheel base. I'm crossing rivers, and hitting up full on ORV trails, and walking through most of it. I'm putting lockers in next. Then a lift and 15" wheels so I can air down. Enjoy those dirt roads!

Put a set of general grabber at2 on no 4 week needed. Did that for my Durango sand mud deep water I miss using my 4 weel drive mode. Even in snow just goes in rear wheel drive.

You would not want a WRX for deep snow. They have power to push the pile, but insufficient ground clearance. Look for any Subaru with 8.7" ground clearance. Some models have a turbo if that's what gets you excited. As far as tires go, if you don't want the hassle of dedicated snow tires, look into the Yokohama Geolandar all terrain tires. It's more of a street-oriented all terrain tire, but it does well enough in snow or occasional light off-road use. Not noisy or harsh handling either. I have them on my 2008 Outback and intend to put them on our other vehicles as well, other than my 4x4, which gets a real all terrain tire.

Stock WRXs have less ground clearance. Their AWD systems may be more effective at distributing torque to the tires with best traction though. You could look into adjustable coilovers, which might allow you to drop a WRX 1" or so for auto-X, but also lift it 1-2" or so for deep snow and/or rally-X. Stock WRX tires also tend to be wide and low profile, all-season treads and compounds, which isn't usually desirable for snow. Use narrower rims and tires, with a winter-capable compound and tread design. Downsize the rims if they'll still fit over the brake calipers. WRXs lend themselves to customizing, as the aftermarket support for them is pretty good.

Yeah yeah tires definitely help but it's very much so about the driver and vehicle I've seen other cars get un stuck in snow but subis plow through it like nothing when I've seen f150s and Chevy get stuck in deep snow with better snow tires

We have 3 Subarus and an F150 4x4. Love the Subarus but for deep snow the F150 4x4 can do it more easily. Don't get me wrong. The Subarus do it all. But for deep snow, the F150 does it better.

Personally I love my 2009 Forester that I'm driving right now. I may have complaints about it but my only complaints I really have is the fact that it doesn't have enough power to get it going if it isn't properly warmed up. Other than that it is a very effective vehicle

They say they have. It has something to do with the boxer engine I understand. Of course, even though it's been a curse as you say, only a relative few Subarus actually have that problem. It's just a higher percentage than normal. I know a lady with an Outback with over 400,000 miles and she claims nothing but routine maintenance. Most people I know who have them say they start having major issues at around 200,000. Not the best, but not bad.

Yeah when it does go wrong it is a lot more expensive but a boxer engine made by Subaru lasts forever if you get the older models. It's amazing my only issue with them is it feels like they are weak and then I am used to a large engine that can get it going extremely quick Definitely a lot better than any of the new vehicles that we have now where if you sneeze wrong the engine may go kaput because the technology goes wrong

Yep I've got a 2004 Forester with manual and wouldn't drive an automatic! Last time I drove an automatic I almost put dog and self through the windshield after putting on the clutch which wasn't there... 65 years old and always drove a standard transmission 😎
