I got this new daily drive for my mum mainly, there's a long story to it but I'll save that for later.
With high mileage about 177,000 I figured it could use a new fuel filter and I noticed fuel economy wasn't so good ether, so I decided to change it but soon learned that it was a little more difficult that I'd expected, but it wasn't to hard in the end, just a little more time consuming than normal.
I found the new Filter on eBay as a Ryco Z931.

No problem, it helped the fuel economy a lot too, it came from 11L/100km to 9.8L/100km!

Thanks for sharing this! It definitely gave me the confidence to do my own, even though my setup is a little different for the XT version in the US.

Ok! So you in your car, and your mom in the new car. Wow you did not tell us that you learned how to drift from your mom!!!!
@ScubaMade
@ScubaMade 3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t tell you that I’m my mums carer because she has dementia, she definitely didn’t help me learn to drift, when I was a teenager she told me she would kick me out of the house if I ever lost my license! Luckily that didn’t happen..

Mine is a 93 Legacy with 238 K miles on it. Shows no signs of fuel pump problems but the fuel guage is getting erratic. Origional pump about time to change it.
@ScubaMade
@ScubaMade 2 жыл бұрын
That’s cool to she’s still going with that many miles ay! Being a ‘93 I don’t know to much about them but the fuel filter might be in the engine bay or under the car somewhere in the fuel lines, I think having it in tank like the Forester makes it harder to replace. But the fuel pump should be similar to replace, it’s not to hard.

What year is your Forester and does it have an external inline filter ?
@ScubaMade

It’s a 2008 SH model and I don’t think it has an inline filter.

It’s a 3rd gen, in the US market it’s’ ‘09-13 so I think ‘08-12 elsewhere.

@@ScubaMade nah, just some fuel pressure pushing it all out of the pipes... Was just A lot... I even had 1/3 of a tank which apparently according to Subaru is fine. I would definitely recommend people dropping the fuel as low as possible on ever doing this. Cross fingers install isn't as filthy haha 😂
