Subaru Impreza McRae Edition by Best: Impreza 555 GC8 Gr. A Continuation Car in action & Sound!

This video is all about the first Subaru Impreza McRae Edition made by Best in action during the 2022 San Marino RallyLegend, driven by Italian rally driver Andrea “Zippo” Zivian.
The McRae Edition are part of the “Continuation Cars” philosophy, aiming to be perfect examples of the legendary Subaru Impreza 55 GC8 Group A rally car of the 90s with which Colin McRae won the 1995 World Rally Championship and a total of 7 rallies from 1994 and 1996.
Best is a company based in the North of Italy and which specialises in the engineering, preparation and tuning of cars for rally and competitions. The Best Impreza project is supported by Carlo Boroli, businessman and rally driver, who wanted to keep alive the legend of the Subaru Impreza Group A rally car. The team worked on the project since 2018, meticulously studying some original examples, consulting books and other reference material, including meeting some of the people who, at the time, worked on and rallied with the Subaru Impreza Group A.
The Subaru Impreza McRae Edition uses only those modern improvements that are appropriate and where the FIA Rally Group A regulations allow such improvements and upgrades, but without distorting the essence of the car itself. The car was tested and developed by Piero Liatti, former Subaru official driver and winner of the 1997 Monte Carlo Rally.
The project consists of 7 Best Impreza McRae Edition cars, one for each of Colin’s World Rally Championship victories at the wheel of an Impreza Group A, plus a final 8th examples to commemorate the 1995 World Championship title. The one in this video is car number 01 which celebrates Colin's first win in a Subaru Impreza 555 Gr. A during the 1994 Rally New Zealand.

As a 17 year old in 1993 I was into rallying and the moment I heard the sound of this car ( so different to all the others at the time ) I had to have one at the age of 23 I managed to get one and fulfilled my dream it was a 2000 model . Loved it only downside cost me a fortune in fuel and back then in the uk it’s was only 80p a litre I think . Glad I owned one 😊
