The RDX A-Spec caught my eye more then the Advanced trim, because the interior trim on the A-Spec looks so much more youthful and modern compared to the wood trim on the Advanced RDX

As an avid Honda enthusiast I watch so much of your content from here in Australia and can’t but help but feel like we really got the short of the stick when it comes to what’s sold here down under. I feel like Hondas recent failed attempt at marketing themselves as a more premium brand would have probably been a success had they offered us some rebadged and right hand drive converted Acuras. I hope that at the very least we see an international release of the new Type-S range and the “Integra” when it releases.

When are you getting the 2.5 GV70. Currently on the market for a new car any my options are basically this and the GV70 2.5T
@razorsedgeadventures65992 жыл бұрын
I really like my 22 RDX SH-AWD Technology, with exception of the fuel economy! It’s rated at 27 mpg on the highway but it doesn’t come close. Mine struggles to hit 23 mpg on long easy 70 mph drives, where my 2019 BMW X4 with a comparable 2 liter Turbo easily hit 32-33 mpg. Come on Honda… really!
@ajns7462 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue - I'm getting 18 in mixed driving. I had a 3 row RX350 with the 3.5 V6 and got 23 in mixed driving, and it didn't need premium. I kind of wish I had saw the MPG reviews before I bought it. A GV70 with the 3.5 Turbo gets better gas mileage. It's also about 10K more though too... so not sure I'm ready to go quite that high for a car.

@razorsedgeadventures65992 жыл бұрын
@@dejavusnip don’t know where you get your facts, but a similarly equipped X4 is actually a little heavier than the RDX, and regardless of the claimed mpg numbers, my RDX dosent get anywhere near the claimed mpg, regardless of how hard I try. Has anyone ever tested an RDX that wasn’t the blue A-Spec?
@20gravedigger112 жыл бұрын
As a 2021 lessee, I can attest the MPGs are rated horrendously bad. I've never seen 26 on the highway, even when really babying the throttle... the best I've seen is 24, and that was during a purposeful test cruising at 70. City is no where near rated either, usually 17-18 at best, and that's just from normal stop-and-go driving. It's rather surprising that my previous 2018 MDX lease did better on fuel than the RDX with a smaller engine and lighter curb weight.
@rezneba1012 жыл бұрын
70... the rating is done at 55.
@20gravedigger112 жыл бұрын
@@rezneba101 in a country where the average interstate speed is 65-70 MPH. Silly to rate them on that speed. Regardless, the point here is, apples-to-apples, the smaller/lighter vehicle with the smaller engine, the one I’d expect to be the more fuel efficient actually did worse than the larger/heavier vehicle with the larger engine when tested at the same speed. If the rating is done at 55 MPH, how did I, at 70 MPH, experience BETTER-than-rated MPGs on my MDX… by 2 MPG? Meanwhile, I consistently get below-rated fuel economy in the RDX. Don’t get me wrong, I love the car… I’m just saying, I think they rated it too high.

17MPG average!? My 4800lb flex-fuel 2018 F150 Supercrew XLT 4x4 with the 400hp 5.0 averages 16.7 MPG, and that's with E85! That's the problem with those little turbo 4-bangers, they rely on higher rpms which hurts mpg. My F150 w/3.55 gears calmly cruises under 2k rpm @ 75mph. I should also mention I only paid $38k for the truck, brand new from Koons Ford back in 2018 (Sticker was $51k). Fast forward only 4 years and this little 4-banger stickers for $53k and then the dealers want to mark that up! Crazy times! I should also mention that my truck is way, way faster than this RDX, particularly in sport mode with E85. Talking 0-60 in low 5's and 13.5 1/4 mile. You would not believe how fast these big trucks are. I often hear people talk about how fast they think there little SUV is, and it always makes me chuckle. With that said, this RDX would be an AWESOME daily driver, with great looks, great tech, and great handling. But the efficiency sucks and it's way overpriced.

Nice work Matty ! IMO the MB GLC 43 is the one to beat in this segment for DD and price if you want a luxury/cost conscious version of a sporty SUV. The MB does everything well and won't cost you your first born. Would love to see you review one. Nevertheless, I really want to like the RDX as it is a very nice looking vehicle but I always felt like it was missing something whenever I drove it. Acura used to be worth the premium back in the day but recently I question the premium price for essentially a HONDA with hooker heels and lipstick.
@MattMaranMotoring2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I disagree about it being a Honda though, this shares basically nothing with a CR-V and is totally unique. As for the GLC, I reviewed one a few years ago, but I don't think it's a good value at all considering a GLC 43 that merely matches the equipment this RDX has will cost you nearly 73k. Obviously the GLC 43 has a lot more horsepower, and maybe to some people that'll be worth the 20k extra, but not to me.

Owning the MB is a nightmare. To simply maintain a GLC43 AMG would cost me around $1500/year, not counting wear items like tires or brakes, just simple PM. The Acura? $400 or so. While the GLC43 is nice, I like the Acura better except of course for that DCT and turbo 6. The rest, I'd pick the Acura.

I favor the Advance model because of the low profile tires on the A Spec versions provide little traction in snow. Also they are more susceptible to tire and rim damage due to potholes and road imperfections common in the Northeast. In my opinion all low profile tires are form over function.
