Again the debate about the gt86 "slowness" The GT86 is made to make you improve your own driving skills to make the most out of it instead of high horsepower cars that basically does everything for you. Keiichi Tsuchiya (drift king) was involved in the development of the 86. and fair to say the GT86 is a spiritual succesor of the corolla AE86 which wasnt a high horsepower vehicle but being put in the right hands of a skilled driver it could smash very quickly trough corners. Despite the good sales, the GT86 clearly isnt made for the american consumer who is only out for straight line speed or doesnt realise this is an amazing tuningsplatform. There arent many

Sure there is, a miata! Only 200hp wouldn’t be a problem if it didn’t feel slow. It’s just insane that Subaru brought such a terribly tuned engine...

Not throwing shade but it's a bit odd that, despite it being the most boring car you've driven, you've got the emotional motivation to visit a review on it, and find people who enjoy it---only to counter their experience with your own. If you would advise someone on what you'd call a fun car to drive (around this price range) which would you suggest? Honest question.

The car straight out of factory suspension wise and brakes as a DD it's hard to complain I really appreciated the work they put into tuning the handling. I miss my FRS even if was an AT for the 1.5 year I owned it eventually will come back to this car later down the road. Personally I would recommend people getting this leave it as OEM as possible.

The only thing I didn't like on the FRS were the rims. But that's an easy fix. The power deficiency can be remedied somewhat with unequal length headers and a tune, without having to go FI.

You totally get it. The 86/BRZ is a sports car in the very purist way. That probably accounts for the fact that most who buy the vehicle are drivers who have driven or learned how to drive on vehicles that you actually have to drive to get the most out of them. I have a 400hp vehicle but I can tell you, it's more fun driving a car 7/10ths + all the time versus a vehicle that is really outstanding but you can only use a fraction of what it's capable of.
@DesuVR
@DesuVR 7 жыл бұрын
Video doesn't do it justice, it's a VERY small car, especially the trunk. I test drove it and I'm glad I didn't sign the papers. The 86's steering is super sensitive, I had a hard time keeping it straight on the freeway. Daily driving it would tire me out, even while using cruise control. The car doesn't drive you, you drive IT. The large aftermarket was tempting but in the long run this car would nickel and dime the crap out of me.

When are they going to kill this thing with fire? Sales suck and when you have to rev the thing out to have any fun it's not very fun. you have to drive like a maniac to get all that "drift fun" There is a reason why it needs more horsepower and Toyota instead of listening decides to rice it out with more led's and a ricer wing and more weight. yeah good thinking gents!!!

This shit right here is why I hate the car community. First they love revving the shit out of it at a standstill to make noise but god forbid you have ro rev it to get any power. Just slap some cheap inefficient huge displacement V8 and call it "good". Completly ignore driving feel. Ignore handling. Ignore braking distance. Ignore the literal dozens of reviewer's that say it's a complete blast to drive and the best experience they've had for the price. Bash things they've never need driven. Truly pathetic.

I'm 15 years old, and I've been earning a few hundred dollars at a time from odd jobs like major yard work or helping a local build a fence or something. I've also been getting paid to fix peoples computers and etc, so i've racked up about $22,000 in the past 2 years and I'm so close to being able to buy one by the time I'm 16. Is this a good car to learn with and good for the price? If not, what sports car should I look into for about 30-35k? btw, i live in a mountainous state with very curvy roads all around where i live.

scion is defunct now? (Googled it) WOW it actually is. I guess that's the reason, if I am now just founding it out.

The TRD options are swaying me towards getting an 86 over a BRZ performance package. I love the exhaust, lowering springs are great if covered under warranty, which these are, sway bars are icing on the suspension cake, and the brake pads are worth a shot, and if they're good enough Brembos won't really be missed. Still on the fence with the drop in air filter, since a K&N would be cheaper, but who knows.

You should take a look into the new Toyota GR HV sports. Looks great, I think is the answer to the Mazda Miata RF

nice little car but it looks like it would scrape its bottom a lot in many daily-driver scenarios.

In my 200+ miles of daily driving it didn't scrape once, for what it's worth.
