Newer Toyota's have auto headlights. Once set to auto, headlights come on automatically when it's dark or you're driving in inclement weather and the wiper blades are on. Great safety feature. I see idiots in Nissan Rogues do that because those DRLs can't be turned off. They don't realize that all lights aren't turned on.
@davinp5 жыл бұрын
I leave it automatic mode. Set and forget it so. So, the DRL go off and the headlights come on at night automatically. I've seen people either don't have lights or just have their DRL when its getting dark. For safety reasons, I think the government should require auto headlights on all cars so that those iditots don' t be driving without lights or just DRL when it's not quite dark.

Matt, This is a terrific review of an impressive car. The SE manual may be the best Corolla 'sports sedan' that we have ever seen. With so many fundamental improvements built into this generation, it is such a pity the interior dimensions of the new sedan/hatch won't fit taller drivers and passengers. Watching you gleefully shift through the gears makes me wonder again why Toyota won't build a manual Camry to further enhance the vastly improved dynamics of its TNGA platform. For the record, I will note that Canadians also get a base L with a #manual for thousands less than the SE. Lastly, you deserve credit for disclosing the fact you are the guest of Toyota at events like this. Disclaimers like that should be a mandatory part of every KZbin review.

I was not impressed by the lack of sunroof availability on any trim level, no android auto, and no remote start available. I did like the look overall, 18" wheels are beauty, and the safety suite with everything standard, and wireless charging pad. The hatch is really small in the backseat, and something like the Honda fit has much more usable cargo capacity than the Corolla hatch, but if max MPG and comfort for 1 or 2 people are your game, this car is definitely worth a look. The CVT is really that good honestly.

IMO, if you want the most higher trim of Corolla (XSE) then go for Forte GT (Here in Canada it is fully loaded) and vice- versa. 2020 Corolla price jump from SE to XSE is too high, however less fun to drive compared to Forte GT (i.e hp 169 vs 201) which you can get it with almost same price (there is no manual option for GT in Canada tho and some time its a deal breaker). Because of the reliability of corolla, the resale value will potentially hold more value than any other brands and as resale value usually does not differ much from trim to trim (most of the old car buyers don’t bother about trims rather than the model and brand), lower trims to XSE will allow you more bang of your buck after couple of years! BTW, according to me, 2020 Forte GT (most higher trim of Forte) is way better (i.e interior and exterior styling, features, infotainment, warranty, road noise etc) in almost every sectors than 2020 Corolla XSE except the reliability that is well known for all the Toyota cars (I do respect Toyota, I believe no brands can beat Toyota in terms of reliability, I had Toyota in past) in which area Kia is coming forward as well (please see the reliability rating of last few years on small sedan cars). However, XSE and Forte GT both are very good cars. If you can afford, get any one from these two based on your preference! Taste varies person to person! BTW Enjoy mate!

I just bought a new car for commuting. Got a 2019 Hyundai Sonata SE (11 miles on it) for $18,127. I know Hyundai isn’t up to Toyota’s reliability reputation or resale value, but I feel like there is very little value in the cars they sell these days. Last generation Camry was a “value”. Toyota is using their reputation to over charge in my opinion. The Corolla with very similar equipment is 5 grand more than a full sized sedan (Sonata) which is labeled “mid-size” to be in a more competitive market. I test drove the 2019 Camry. I greatly preferred the SE Camrys looks over my car, but I also preferred the Sonatas clean & function interior layout, the automatic in the Sonata is way smoother, has a quieter cabin, and the interior space/trunk/overall comfort (especially the back seats) is better in the Sonata. The last generation Camry SE you could’ve got the sticker price down to 20k ish. Now you’re lucky if you can get it below 25k. I’ll choose value over a prestigious logo any day, and this is coming from a guy who owned an Audi S-line too.
@MattMaranMotoring5 жыл бұрын
Well to be fair, the MSRP for your Sonata is over 23k. If we're comparing MSRP vs. MSRP, the base Camry is only about $500 more. You were able to knock 5k off your Sonata's price because it's at the end of its generation with a redesigned 2020 model being revealed in April. This Camry generation is only 2 years old. In time there will be discounts on these new Toyotas as well if someone wants to wait for them. I agree though that historically, Hyundai usually hands out bigger discounts which is great as long as you don't plan to sell it, since it hurts resale.

Hyundai/KIA cars drive like an appliance. I drove Elantra GT Sport 6MT, it is supposed to be their "hot-hatch" and it was terrible. First gear does not accelerate at all, just gets going. Acceleration starts when you switch to 2nd gear. Rear headroom is bad. Interior is dirt-cheap, but MSRP was actually comparable to Toyota/Honda. Koreans are still very bad with handling and engines, but they compensate by overloading features: standard LED headlights, cooled seats etc. But I would rather buy a car that is enjoyable to drive. It is sad, but 2018 Honda Fit 6MT with torsion beam is more fun to drive than 2018 Elantra GT Sport 6MT with multilink setup.

Tire size 225 40 18 Wow, my G37 has 225 50 18. For a Corolla, it is quite impressive!

im glad toyota is coming back down to earth with there styling for like the last 10 years i just havent been interested in anything toyota has made due to styling too futuristic and wierd for me but a few cars have been okay

This car has one of the best styles,. I have ever seen. This is going to be my next car, I really like that futuristic, aggressive, yet conservative style, it is super awesome. The Sedan Toyota Corolla 2020 is so far the best car I have ever seen.

What’s the difference between 6 speed and manual + auto in XSE Sedan ?Unfortunately 6 speed is only offered in hatchback
@dogdaybreak31574 жыл бұрын
Fun/comfortable/reliable smaller car if you can grab an SE manual for around $20K. The looks have improved a ton IMO. Toyota should have dumped the old 1.8 powerplant completely. The 169hp engine should be standard.

I would like to see Toyota put the 6-speed in the LE Corolla. I would love that and save some money, like they had in the past.

That huge fugly infotainment system glued to the dash is a damn eyesore. Uggggghhh. Someone get a real car designer to fix this.

Why a max speed of 160 on the corolla? It’s never gonna get to close to it
@MattMaranMotoring5 жыл бұрын
Most cars have unrealistically high speedometers these days. I don't understand it either, but it's the industry norm.

Back of the sedan looks waaaaay better then the rear of the hatchback(plus nooo 🙅🏾♂️ fake vennts) But to me the front of both are evenly matched. I like both of the front bumper stylings.

I sat in the back seat of a hatch version today and was really surprised how poor both the rear legroom was and how awkward ingress/egress was from the back seat. Curious if the shape of the sedan improves this a touch over the hatch. There is a lot to like about this car, but the one step backward is definitely interior space utilization.
@brodiwheeler75835 жыл бұрын
syncro87 The Sedan will have more backseat legroom. How often do you have passengers in the backseat? The Hatch is workable for occasional passengers in the back on short trips but it is generally a single person or couples car... mine will have the backseat folded down 95% of the time. Now if they would just bring the New Corolla SportWagon to the US, that would be a great option!- more backseat room and the cargo hauling capacity of a true wagon/hatchback. #bringbackthewagon #wewantwagons #hopetheygiveusanAWDCorollaWagon!
@watershed445 жыл бұрын
@syncro87 Toyota should being the Sport Touring Estate Wagon here to the USA It rides on a longer wheelbase than the sdn and hb and is more practical and best value, plus it looks really good! Tell Toyota to being the wagon to the USA.
