Absolutely ridiculous ! .... Since the mid 70's when this game got very big n popluar , instead of getting better it has become frustrating & absurd .... Do away with that ridiculous defensive flick & play the game on a larger table , pool tables are ideal ... & those bases ! ..ohh dear , so flat , what happened to the half round ? ... no swerving or curling anymore ? ..its like chasing a little ball around , tormenting each other .....

The flat bases were developed for the speed game, as you can see here. The curling bases are still available from dealers and Old Subbuteo aficionados play with those regularly. Two adjustments would restore Subbuteo to the tactical skills game it used to be even without the curling bases: mandating again the use of proper football formations and more importantly restoring turn-based play instead of allowing near-simultaneous movement. A third rule adjustment might be one where figures can advance only one zone at a time instead of allowing them to be flicked the length of the pitch.

To me those full width defense lines look ridiculous, also the super long flicks. But I barely watch clips with rounded bases, the figures are falling over like 80% of all flicks lol.

Some fancy fingerwork, but why do they all use the index finger these days? I've always used my middle finger- few players used the index finger back in the day. Don't like the goals they use these days- naff-looking. Nice to see it's still popular.

Hi Serge, Hey, your video is excellent ! Nothing to blame about the video itself. However, I must complain about its content, resp. its main protagonist with his childish, insane behaviour of a braindamaged hooligan! A lot of people are currently doing a great job, bringing Subbuteo back to public awarness. So when your video shows a "yelling gorilla", then this most probably does not attract the audience, a lot of new enthusiast and game sponsors are currently looking for !

i prefer real subbuteo-the original game played with lightweights and heavy-weights NOT this hybrid nonsense that hijacked it with illegal equipment
