As a 90's kid that can remember VERY vividly the MTV News segment when Kurt Loder came on screen and announced Bradley's untimely death at a time when our beloved musicians were dropping like flies to the same demon he himself was facing....watching this is like watching a ghost perform right there on stage. Jakob THANK YOU for keeping your father's legacy ALIVE and giving us 90's kids that grew up listening to Sublime and watching them on MTV another chance to relive our youth through sharing the music once again for all of us. It didnt take me long to realise sublime never played a 100% tight set. They were always so messed up and unprofessional when they performed live. Thats whay made them Sublime, they were always so excited to perform and have fun. It didnt matter if they played everything perfect and thats part of why they are so good!! Keep it up Jakob. My take is . His vocal coach is working with him and this soft singing is a way to:1 sustain a whole show/tour when you aren't really strong enough to make it thru singing full voice. This soft talking voice can last week's. 2. Over time his voice may get stronger to the point he can sing full voice and stronger falsetto etc. Most of his father's awesome voice was controlled yelling and singing combine with raw sardonic aggression. Rip. Props to son for wanting to carry the torch. Solution.. sing to dad's actual vocal track, slightly doubled vocal... That would be new, Accepted and sound better. Father and son double vocal.. with more video footage of Dad singing on the led screen. I loved Sublime in the 90s. Keep the car rolling

@retinalcircus7 ай бұрын
I've watched a fair bit of this Jakob and sublime stuff and I think i know what's bugging me I don't think Jakob is cut out for this. They're just putting him in the deep end. It's fair he wants to play his dad's music and keep it live but he really needs time to get the feel of the material. It's all just the wrong moods and energy. He doesn't relax enough, he needs to reserve the high energy for the more uptempo and punk stuff and when it comes to downtempo he needs to stop playing up strokes completely cuz if someone like Trey, a pretty competent gutisrist with chops is playing solid downstrokes and and this pretty scratchy beginner guitarist throws in upstrokes out of time it just throws the entire song imo. If anything this shows how great Brad was as a gutisrist cuz even Trey's interpretation of New Thrash was off. Brad nails it on the Stand By Your Van live cut. Basically get this kid some guitar lessons it feels unfair to hand him his dad's axe, setup as it is with just one sound and one pickup, all that nuance is in the limitations of that guitar but in the wrong hands it's all just so off, a bit like giving the iconic guitar to Lou Dog to play with his inexperienced paws. It's cute and it's loving, in the memory of his dad but it's not right. Not at the moment, give him time and he'll nail it. But this is kinda unfair to Jakob imo.
